I watched a documentary on German tv about the end times of the second world war when Hitler was residing in his bunker in Berlin. They interviewed a couple of his military and other “ staff”. The psychology of him believing that he will still win the war, even when a large part of Germany was already occupied by the Allies was similar to what Trump seems to display. It was also, that nobody really dared to tell him the truth in the past weeks, because he would have anybody arrested and shot. As he realized that Germany is going downhill he held a speech, talking about “ Germany is suffering under a terrible disease (= loosing the war), but “ we will come up with a medicine”. The simplicity of speech was very familiar to what Trump is saying.

To make things worse, the U.S. has no alternative to Trump. Both parties are stunningly corrupt. Neither has anything to offer.
Mind you, Canada's Liberals and Conservatives are really quite similar to America's Democrats and Republicans and democrats
In general, the U.S. empire and the old British one are similar. and that's not an accident. (Yes, Churchill was as murderous and racist and evil as they come. The British Empire murdered over 400 million, starved millions to death (Again Churchill was big on that, and enslaved millions, especially in China and India. And one of Washington's first acts was to begin the mass murder of Americas native people. ---it impressed Hitler so much that his holocaust was modelled on the American example.) We have to remember that George Washington was British - and very typical of the British upper class. He didn't believe in democracy. In his U.S., the very poor were excluded from voting. From it's first days, the U.S was =and is - governed by the upper class - for the upper class.
Ditto for Canada's Liberals and Conservatives.

Oh - as a footnote, when Britain began killing the Boers of South America to steal their gold fields, it put pressue on Canada to join in on the war. Actually, the colonies were not required to fight British wars. Nor did Britain need them to beat the Boers. No. But the British knew a war with Germany was coming - and it wanted to set a precedent for the colonies to fight that war.
And it worked. Many years later, the U.S. used this as a model to make other countries fight wars for American billionaires. That's why Canadians, since Korea, have fought U.S. wars in Korea, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, that's why we sent 'peacekeepers' to Haiti. Haiti had been a functioning democracy. Canada then chipped in at U.S. request to make sure the democracy was destroyed, and replaced by American thugs. (Our news media, of course, referred to this gangsterism.. as [eacekeeping.") Actually, do a lot of the American dirty work all over Latin America.

Almost all wars are fought to benefit the rich. That's what all the wars of the twentieth cenutry were about - including World Wars One and Two. (Ever wonder why the U.S. waited so long but then joined in on World War One? It used the war to steal parts of the British Empire. It worked like a charm with the British controlled oil fields of the middle east. But the U.S. was dismayed when Mao Tse Tung beat out both the British and Americans. You thought the Korean war was to save democracy in South Korea? Forget it. For a start, Korea was a stunningly corrupt dictatorship set up by the Japanese conquest of that land. And the Americans liked it like that.No. The real purpose of the Korean War was to get a base to conquer China - But Mao beat it.

News media always report out side good, and the other side as evil. So the Germans were evil in World War 2. (and we were evil in the German press. In reality in that war, the nation with the most evil record was Britain - with the U.S. not far behind.
We also, without mentioning it, also fully supported Hitler in his slaughter of the Jews. (It's no true that we didn't know about it.. Canada, the U.S. and Britain also actively supported the holocaust by turning back Jews who tried to escape.

The Democratic Party establishment made the same mistake again with Biden as they did with Hillary Clinton. They backed another bad candidate. Once again, they should've picked Bernie but they didn't learn their lesson the first time.

He can't stand being questioned or challenged, especially by women. Trumplethinskin can't control the narrative and it suckeths mightily. :ROFLMAO:

In the German Tagesspiegel was an article that Twitter is now planning to delete fake news more often. The comment was that that would apply to Trumps account as well.

Thought that was a while ago. Trump is one person I do not, and will not, follow on Twitter. I even have his name muted so that Tweets containing it get hidden unless I choose to see them.

It is very strange when he goes in these Twitter rampages for hours. Honestly do the people around him not think he is deranged?

snd isn’t he busy doing important stuff? Or shouldn’t he be? He seems to spend a lot of time tweeting, watching Fox and calling in to his favorite shows. It is very strange behavior for anyone, let alone the president

No s**t, Sherlock. And the Republicans seem to think this is the "best" they can do. Wyrd.

Something that surprises me that he hasn’t seemed to notice

he announces big spending to fight this. It was huge. And he got a popularity boost. And it got some press and then off we go to his other odd behavior. And his popularity dropped

he seems to have missed Trudeau. He is daily having his cute little visits with the press from his porch and daily is handing out dribs and drabs of money. It is adding up to a massive debt but he is doing it daily Instead of one massive package. And everyone is lapping it up. if Trump did that daily he would be even more popular. Odd he hasn’t noticed

Lol. He did make some comment the other day about less illegal border crossings. The article I read said something like. Gee , do you think that might be because we are overwhelmed with covid19 and no one wants to come here

They know he's not the "best" they can do. But as has often been noted, they're scared s***less of him. As lousy a president as he may be he has this army of crazed followers who respond to everything he says/does/tweets and who have the ability to bring down many of the more sane Republicans, so they hold their tongues. Maybe they think having them around helps the situation; maybe they just like their jobs and don't give a damn about the well-being of the country.

I have to say that as much as we blame Trump for all that's wrong, he's a symptom of a worsening disease. It actually goes back to the election of Obama - well, even before, but Obama's election is what really let loose some of the innate but extreme racism in the Republican Party and in American society - and Obama was treated like no white president would ever have have been treated. Remember Congressman Joe Wilson screaming "YOU LIE!" at Obama during a State of the Union address? Remember Mitch McConnell saying his only goal was to make Obama a one term president? Remember McConnell refusing to even have a Senate hearing on Merrick Garland, who Obama had nominated for the Supreme Court because, McConnell said, it wasn't appropriate for presidents to nominate Supreme Court justices in their last year in office, notwithstanding the many precedents from presidents of both parties who had done so? Just the other day, aftert the years of verbal abuse Obama had taken from Trump with not a single Republican suggesting that a president/former president deserved a bit of respect, Obama made some relatively mild criticisms of Trump's handling of the crisis, and McConnell responded by saying Obama should "keep his mouth shut." Or, to parapharse, "the black guy better not get uppitty again."

American society is rapidly descending into the abyss.
