Two weeks ago I talked (from at least six feet away, probably 12) to a dad supervising his kids who were pushing a giant ball around in a school field (I was using the path through it and talked to him when I reached the edge where he was standing, where the street began. I was impressed by the giant ball taller than the kids. It looked like they were having a hoot). He said his middle kid who was not playing, had a moderate cold, but he wasn’t allowed to go to the clinic, nor was it recommended that kids be tested. I think kids are still getting it and some have typical mild colds. Their own immune systems seem to be able to handle it and let them recover. Parents don’t seem to be catching it terribly, in droves, from them, either.

The sparing of children makes it less tragic, although it still is tragic enough.

I just read an article from a UK paper. It said that people were avoiding hospitals, associating them with the virus. “Where were the heart attack victims?” – Doctors are asking. I have to admit I would not go to a hospital now unless I was very ill.

I feel like I’m in a bad dream at times. This was not on my radar as a threat. But I’ve discovered it was considered a distinct possibility by epidemiologists.

Yes, it is. It just mentions reactions to watch for. Anxiety is one, but that was initially after I realized that what I did might've been dumb. I feel fine now.

I feel like I’m in a bad dream at times. This was not on my radar as a threat. But I’ve discovered it was considered a distinct possibility by epidemiologists.

It really does seem like a bad dream. 10 years ago I did some work in the health centre of a First Nations' community. The coordinator who was a nurse was committed to having a pandemic plan. I thought that was a little odd, even though H1N1 slammed the community. Fast forward to today and it doesn't seem so odd. I'm hoping they've used some of the planning especially since one of the members is very sick with covid.

Eyes are pretty resilient. I would imagine some side effects to too much would be pretty immediate. Blinking will help too.

Yes, it will get here sooner or later. My sister who lives in Kamloops (interior of BC) noticed an article online mentioning that one of the staff at a local drug store had tested positive. Her husband had been there within the dates they specified.

They were already sheltering in place but now they’re being even more careful. He did not get ill, the 14 days have passed. Now when they get groceries, they put the perishables away and the leave the rest for three days. Fruit and vegetables are washed with soap.

Kids do develop COVID-19, there's numerous reports of that. They have very low rates of becoming seriously sick with it.

In Alberta, the current count is 165 of those under 19 who have had it.

Yes there must be some. I read of one fatal case of young child who was subject to severe seizures at frequent intervals. It was under control with some type extract from marijuana. Sadly, she did not survive Covid-19. I think she ten or so.

Yes, if they had flu plan they’ll be one step ahead of many of us.

I suspect they haven't followed it well considering the buzz I've been hearing. Now that a well loved member is so sick though there's more action. I do worry about that community.

I have a roommate. One of the issues that has come up before is she flushes things that shouldn’t be flushed,or flushes too much at once and has clogged the toilet.

Today, just a few minutes ago, the toilet water level would not go down. I only went pee. It looked clean but there are germs, I realize. So I got out the plunger and I felt a tiny drop of water splash me in the eye. I immediately stopped, washed my hands with soap and water, cupped my hands and rinsed my eyes. Then I got out my visine I remembered I had...not a proven intervention but I thought maybe if I doused my eyes with visine chemicals it would be stronger than plain water - and if then rinsed again, it would rinse any potential bugs out or kill them...it was just an immediate thought, on the fly. So I rinsed again. And I stood a bit further back as best I could and unclogged the toilet. Then washed my hands again. Thoughts? Advice?

I think I’d go crazy with a room mate like that. I mean, she might have fine pre-Covid-19. But everything’s changed now. Perhaps she doesn’t understand the new life we are in. There is no going back.

I see the strangest responses. I watch a lot of Youtube vids. The sound of a human voice is calming. But some of the comments! People saying it doesn’t exist, or it’s some type of plot by heaven only knows who.

One man who I had followed for some months had become obsessed with rate of C19 deaths. He read about the bad time in northern Italy. It was still early days and one can imagine how confused and chaotic it must been. It seems that he read somewhere that if that a person had symptoms of C19 they would officially classify it as caused of C19. Then he went on a long journey of epidemiological modelling and criticizing the models. At first I thought, well, quite possibly he was right.

But only a few hours later I read another article saying the Italian deaths had been undercounted as some towns didn’t have tests and didn’t give anyone a C19 death.

There was no plot in Italy, just understandable confusion. However, one can still get an overall figure by looking as “excess”deaths. How many people died in a typical week or month pre-C19? Compare that to plague weeks. I mean, there was greatly more people dying. What could it be but C19? But now he’s gone off on the wrong tangent.

Doctors are saying now that there are more symptoms than just fever, cough and sore throat.
Some are feeling very disoriented, very tired and some have said they couldn't smell. And you don't necessarily have to have a fever or cough or sore throat.
Because of this some were being misdiagnosed and placed on the non COVID side of the waiting room in the hospital.

my roommate is a student, immature, and has no desire whatsoever to be helpful or for us to be more like friends (or even have better communication and expectations during this time)?- she's interested in her life and her friends. That's it. I noticed the only time she offers to help with any chores is if she has a favour to ask. We were getting along unusually well then she asked if her friend could come and hang out here the next day (right when they were strongly recommending isolating and distancing and she knew it).

I thought she was leaving at the end of April, but she lost her airfare money for a trip she'd been planning - and that was before the eviction freeze - even though I wanted to find a different roommate, I suggested to my landlords that she stay, so she wasn't in a housing/ homeless crisis at this time - her family is far away. She doesn't know I was the one who recommended she stay on until this is over.

She wants to be a scientist. I feel like telling her that a scientist should be able to figure out how to separate the garbage from the recycling from the compost by now (after several instructions)! But then I would feel mean. If we were friendlier I would say that...but since we're not, it would be too mean.

Apparently the person I know up north was diagnosed with a kidney infection first, then pneumonia. She was transferred to Prince George and they tested her for Covid. Apparently she is improving and is expected to survive now. That's excellent news.
