Novel Coronavirus

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

People are able to go out for work or other activities deemed to be essential. It's important to take proper precautions and to follow the distancing guidelines. It seems to me that Kimmio is doing that.

we won’t know what could have happened if we had done nothing.

Well there is Sweden. They are not closing schools, bars, or most places and basing their strategy on informing the public and trusting one another and they also tend to trust the government more.
So, we shall see.....a disaster in the making or ???????

Has anyone heard whether those who have had the milder form of COVID 19 have built up an immunity to the virus? I did hear that they were looking into it and possibly providing those more severley affected with some antibodies by somehow injecting others with the immune persons blood????

What they need to do is get the ability to test everyone to keep those who have
I see. I am an a hole because I said you should be following the rules. Do you think everyone saying this is also a a hole. Your dr Henry, Trudeau, .........

if people are out and about they are going to ultimately cause the virus to spread. One person is all it takes to push the virus along.
I live in a small town. So far the hospital lists two cases, one a guy from Toronto who was sent back home. But our town is following all the rules like everyone else

we won’t know what could have happened if we had done nothing. It I do certainly believe the modeling that shows we need to keep the number of ill people who need hospital care down or we will overwhelm the hospital system

i would assume, as you say you are working in one place and sleeping in another, that you are getting out daily twice to make that trip.
i have to. My company does important work collecting info for government agencies to help improve services the public relies on.

Others need to go out too...anyone who has to work to give you stuff you can sit back and receive. F off.

Henry says we can still go grocery shopping and go out for exercise. She didn't say we can only go every 2 weeks. Trudeau is an entitled one who can easily get what he needs without going out.

This is not Toronto. Also if I go to the store at 8 -9 am there's only about 10 shoppers there and staff are busy cleaning. I am washing hands and wiping vigilantly to the point of excessively, doing what I can. F off.

Yeah, they have been doing that for a while. At least one drug company is going to prepare SARS-COv-2 antibodies from plasma.

It's really cool to see what they are doing in response to this. I know they've used plasma like this in the past. It's the first this non-scientist has heard of that. It's really encouraging even if it is only a small act at this point.

Well isn’t that lovely language. Not sure I have ever told someone to F off.

you have a nice day too.

Of course you can shop for groceries. but we are asked to limit it.

did I say you should nt work? In fact I recall being very happy for you when they allowed you to work from home. Man, you really need to chill out

You just chastised me for going out twice a day when I work (5 residential blocks away). The supermarket is a few blocks in the other direction so I do limit it. I don't even work everyday but I will be able to work more now than before because it's easier and less tiring to just get there - and more comfortable. I can even ride up there in pjs if I want to. It's easier. And safer...safer to get there, safer neighbourhood to work in.

I did not chastise you. I said that is what you are doing to work. Lots of people are still going to work.

you said you went a few times a week to the store. I commented that was too often

if we all are in this together and limit as much as possible our opportunities to shop and to run into others, we can slow the virus down. Down enough so that hospitals can cope

do it, don’t do it. That is a comment on you

Twice a week is not too often to go when the neighbourhood supermarket with the same shoppers and staff is quiet and staff are busy cleaning. The first hour open, and last hour open are quiet. Common sense. One outing is not the same as another. It was a mistake the day I went at 5 and there was a lineup outside. Also, I can’t afford the minimum for delivery in some stores and they are booked up for online orders. I can’t carry too much home at once (it’s also not safe)...and my roommate has taken up more than 2/3 of the fridge and freezer with her own food...we buy our own. Don’t assume what you don’t know.

We have some grocers devoting the first morning hour strictly for the elderly and others in your situation.....do you have that happening in your neighbourhood?

Yes. It’s not all seniors and people with mobility issues (some invisible disabilities too). They started about a week or so ago. I think they open an hour earlier. But by 8, the usual time, it’s still really quiet. There’s tons of space to get around. As with close to closing time.

we are asked to limit our outings. If going twice a week is fine with you could could care less.
if you have room mate space issues that is an issue for you to resolve. Most roommates that I have seen with my two kids over the years give shelf space to each evenly. Four shelf fridge means you each get two. Not too difficult to figure out

honestly Kimmio you Go do what you want.

I can’t tell her what to do. She doesn’t communicate with me much, or care...we set that up in the beginning but because I buy less under normal circumstances, she started putting more in there. She does what she wants. I am not her mom. I do not think you get it. You need to chill. I might be safer going to a nearly empty supermarket twice a week than you are going to a busy one biweekly. It has to do with numbers and close contacts and people staying in the same radius, not frequency of leaving home per say, if noones out.

If I get it it’ll likely be from somebody in my living arrangement. My roommate is most likely to leave the neighbourhood radius and have more contacts. She works and rides transit so some risk can’t be helped.
