Which, if the church runs true to form, like the slavery issue, will be corrected in 80 years' time, when this generations great-grandchildren belatedly realize that those before them chose to stand on the wrong side of history, the wrong side of faith, hope and love, and the wrong side of prejudice.

Slavery is wrong because it is a deviation from God's original plan for human life. It's in the same league as things like murder, assault and theft.

Indeed, the idea that slavery is NOT okay is a fairly modern one in the West and still hasn't completely sunk in in some other parts of the world. In the time of Jesus and Paul, it was just another social institution with rules and expectations on both slaves and masters.
