Is Being Human
The Lord announces victory, and throngs of women shout the happy news ...

It is for freedom that Christ set us free ?

Is it our season to recover what has been stolen from our children ?

In the last days ... Sons and Daughters will prophesy.

When are we now? What are we waiting for? What is God waiting for?

When he hears this sound he will respond with signs and wonders!

In the beginning 'man' ... male and female ... cooperative dominion.

Not male domination of female. Not female domination of male.

Seriously ... this pitting of male against female is driving me to despair ...

It is not the right sound!

In the beginning? "And the Lord God said, It is not good that a man be alone; make we to him an helper like to himself." Genesis 2:18 (WYC).

I too am confused ... I heard the line 'and the women divide the plunder' and off I went.

As the story goes ...

Men and women were designed different but equal in image.

Both were empowered to rule the world - together.

Then the fall - separation - turned to rulership of one over the other.

Then the resurrection - reconciliation of men and women - sons and daughters - equal again.

Then the Spirit is poured out on men and women alike.

Then men and women alike serve by their spiritual gifts not according to gender.

In spirit we all serve together ... no gender is more important than another.

It is not about gender. Why are we so stuck in that place?

Men and women were created equal in God's image - I absolutely agree. Right from the beginning, however, men and women were created with different roles to play in society and in the family. The fall brought with it strife between men and women over just who should be the leaders and just who should be the helpers.

Agreed that we should all help one another. Even within that helping, however, men and women have different roles to play.

Strongly disagree. It's a non-argument. There is not a single thing that a woman can do that a man cannot, and vice versa, except for some primitive biological functions that aren't as organized as they appear.

Perhaps not Bette. However, what men and women can do is just one issue. Another is what men and women should do.

You see, you think we're talking about a clear duality. I think we're talking a continuum. Does make communication on a topic difficult.

Your post, "There is not a single thing that a woman can do that a man cannot, and vice versa," suggests a duality. Your post, "Who are men? Who are women? What makes that so? A penis? A vagina? A chromosome? A hormone?" suggests perhaps something other. That's what I found amusing.

Gotcha. But you'd see how the latter opinion would inform the former, in that if there isn't a clear gender duality, then "impregnation" and "gestation" become biological rather than gender processes.

"Except for some primitive biological functions that aren't as organized as they appear".

Need a uterus and a fertilized egg.
