It's an estimate based on the number of Christians there are. I believe only Christians are saved.

To me it suggests that no matter what we're going through, we should thank God for God's provision.

Those belo' elite Christians ard dropped further ... thus profound adepts ... do you understand that term ... adept? It approaches aestheticism ... boot ease?

Well, @Jae I certainly grew up with the notion that only Christians would be saved. Not only that, but Christians were responsible for most (if not all) of the good that is done in the world. I no longer accept either of these ideas.

As an aside, I am fond of the present day Jewish notion which allows for righteous Gentiles.

What ended your faith in the former?

Yes, the story is quite astonishing in this regard. I started today thinking about the disciples who were sent after the fellow with the jug of water. But this part of the narrative began to speak to me more powerfully.

The simplest answer is that I realized I was a Christian because of circumstances and upbringing.

Visits to other faith groups as part of Sunday School in the United Church were formative as well.

Ah. To be clear, I'm not speaking of cultural Christians, but rather of those who have authentically been born from above - which are you?

A) This really is none of your business; B) This has little to nothing to do with Mark's gospel.

If his actions were preordained, as many think, he is a character deserving of compassion.

I think so. I think often of Judas. Why he has the name he has? What does Iscariot mean? Many different ideas. Did he have free will? If so, could "God's plan" have been averted?

In what way? I'm guessing from another thread that you consider yourself to be a progressive Christian. I hope some day you will be born from above.
No, I do not identify as a progressive Christian. You can consider me a liberal Christian if you like.

Follower of Jesus says it best. I am interested in the Jewishness of Jesus and intrigued by the fact I had a Jewish grandfather who died many years before I was born.
