I believe it was 5000+. Still today it's possible for crowds that large to assemble.
How many could a coliseum fill?Seeler's making the valid point that what would be possible today, with modern demographics, and modern transportation, would be to "easily" gather that number of people (we do it at concerts and sporting events all the time). It is extremely unlikely that it would be so at that time. Numbers in scripture usually "mean" something. Like 5000 is a "enormous crowd" for then, which it would not be today.
