I consider black clad anarchists - or whatever they are - on the far left to be too far. They are very few in number and have caused less violence than the far right today - and I suspect some of them are moles for the police - agents provocateurs - to shut down peaceful protest altogether. Most of the extremist violence In the US is not coming from the far left, or from Islam...it's coming from the far right. The statistics bear that out.

Social democrats are not "far left"... They "were" centre left. They seem that way because of how far right the pendulum has swung in recent years. They have always pushed back against neoliberalism (the privatization of everything under the sun), predatory capitalism and now white nationalism too.

I've seen this in many south american countries. I remember in Cuba, not many had cars, and hitchhikers just jumped on any truck passing by and were welcomed by the driver. I've seen it happening in Columbia too. The poor seem to help each other.

I hear them blame the world's woes on social progress, and tear down ideas around social justice, feminism, racial equality; they support free speech insofar as they can spread bigotry and hate toward minority groups, which allows them to encourage suppression of others' basic rights. And these are the tactics that have been used to bring out latent xenophobia, and normalize it so that fascist politicians, strongmen, are once again being supported around the "western" world. Why is it that I need to be tolerant of those things?
