Wow Pinga. Well my parents took possession of their condo Oct. 1. Had movers come Oct. 10th and still it took until yesterday for them to be "all out" of the house.
It would have gone faster if I was closer but I did put 4 weeks in this summer. Another sister was there for 10 days. Resident sister had travel holidays booked for Oct (as move was originally Nov.) Now the unpacking and settling in can happen.
Folks are in good spirits and health and happy about the move.

I am guessing they were downsizing too, @Tabitha ?

We will have stuff in the attic not moved, but, easier to get everything out of the house, then bring it down a level, sort, and determine disposal.
Stuff in the attic won't block improvements to be done prior to sale, so...that is good.

t-1 days
My bank account was pretty rich for about 10minutes today, lol.
Bought a new double mattress.
Spending time looking at stuff on Kijiji that could fiulfill a couple of wants, such as a double headboard and dresser, and a kitchen table & hutch. So much less than buying new.

Did the final inspection.
it was lovely that the current owners left notes taped to things such as how to turn the fan on, or kitchen stove specifics.

Utility is set up.
Internet comes in next week.

Dog is having a really hard time as of last night. Though the blanket helped some, it didn't resolve , and he ended up being placed in his crate, where he seemed to settle. (We normally do not put a dog in the crate, rather, leaving it open for him to go into.)

I must admit that my purging ability decreased the last couple of days. I just wanted to pack up, so didn't purge my baking shelf as I had originally planned. I will have more time off, and my goal is to consume one item each week that has been on that shelf

Can we have a virtual housewarming party?

Yes Pinga my folks were downsizing but also their energy level is certainly decreased. The differeence between 50/60 and mid-eigties!

You will probably purge some as you unpack.
Sounds like a good plan everything but attic ready to go!

I think how hard it is to downsize , especially when you are doing it as aging.
The items that you love, your kids don't want.

I am thnakful for my niece wanting some of my mom's.
My sons don't want stuff, there is little that they will take -- a couple of board games, that kinda stuff.

Re energy -- I am glad it is 20/30 that is moving us., and one teen.

I had to look up “ Godspeed”, wondering if it has anything to do with the speed Pinga will be moving.
Godspeed
Not so. Old english for “ prosper”. So, take your time, Pinga.

Root of the succeed thingy in which some of us go down in history as lesser things to consider!

Glad that's out-'ve-mind!

We had an amazing day yesterday and today with family helping, well, and Friday night too.

Friday night, we moved the kitchen food & dishes, and set it up with the help of my two boys.
Saturday i was up bright & early to cook up some pulled pork for lunch for the movers. the chili had been cooked before and was in the freezer.
I was at our new house, unpacking boxes, while my husband had the crew loading the moving van, and vehicles with boxes.
By 12:30 they had had done two trips, and all the boxes and furniture had been moved
We all had lunch, then most left, leaving my two boys and husband and brother-in-law and myself.
Bedroom furniture was reassembled, more boxes put away, and furniture arranged.
We had a good homecooked dinner, then, off went oldestson, partner and wee one.

I had a long soaking bath, felt good!
We had no internet yet, and my phone totally died, would not work on battery or plugged in.
I was in bed by 9pm and slept until the 7am.

[FONT=Open Sans, sans-serif]Got up, to put away the last of my clothes, and unpack more boxes.
Oldestson, partner, brother-in-law and partner arrived at noon to help again, and we put out the ornaments, filled the bookcase, and setup the stereo equpment, sort of...still needs wiring, moved furniture from lower bedroom to upper, and new mattress arrived for youngestson, so he setup his room
House is feeling like home.

Husband went to look at a dining room set we found on Kijiji. Going to pick it up next week, which will hold most of the remaining boxes.
Oldestson's partner brought two barstools she had.

It's been a real joy to have family willing to help.

I am just amazed by how easy you make it seem. Spoke with my parents today. Mom said that after doing daily routine (meals, dishes and laundry) they don't have much energy left over for unpacking. They got living room arranged today (after 2 tries) with my sister and her wife.

Ah the difference 30 years make.

I went over to our old house to look for some missing items, such as clothespins, --- oh my goodness gracious.
It is a disaster.

There is dirt...from underneath & behind furniture, plus tracked in dirt.
There are boxes (empty), and to be filled later (attic and tool room move/purge)
There is furnishing that is not moving, and needs to go to ...somewhere.
There is all our art, which hasn't moved yet.
There is the dregs in the kitchen pantry that didn't get packed.

lol, there is the cat. The cat hasn't moved. It has a two story house all to itself, and does not seem to mind, though did come to see youngestson as we entered the house. I figured cat was better there until things settled, doors were closed that needed to be closed.

Anyhow, found the
a) clothestpins
b) garbage cans
c) cutting boards
d) ziploc boxes
e) cheeseboard
f) large plates (were in the dishwasher, along with 1/2 the cutlery)
g) glasses
h) vitamins

About 6 boxes came to our new home, plus youngestson's computer.

Spouse advised me today that I needed to sit and relax today.. (I was in the process of setting up the guest room).
Satellite tv is hooked up, so catching up on news. Not sure that watching info on US election catches it.

Normally my husband does the dishes but, i decided to do them this morning, aswelll you can see by the view from the kitchen window, it is restful. (The kitchen window looks out through the 3season room)

Leaves ... those left under the trees as a shift in seasoning occurs ... dissipates the shadows for the flash of the flake job ... and thus it goes on ... time!

Some are so industrious they don't know how critical time is in amnesia ... losing IT! Stop and watch it go ... like clockwork orange ... time of life is insane ...

Just look about at the wheels ...

Thanks CrazyHeart. Took a relatively quiet day. We had company in the afternoon, and my "new to us" dinette furniture moved in.

Found it on kijiji - solid wood furniture , older fashioned - from a local company Deilcraft. My brother worked there as a young man, and mom had Deilcraft end tables.

It fits ok, and is darker than we wanted, but, we like the size of the chairs, and for $500 will work well for years.

(I had a buffet and a hutch for all the good crystal, china...and wasn't quite ready to get rid of yet). A smaller hutch would have done better,but...again, it was available, and it works, and is fine.

The negative news from yesterday was a bit rough, but, we will figure it out.

Bell was my backup plan for internet, should the primary internet fail. The guy phoned to say "can't get it to you. seemed odd, but, he said due to the distance it just won't work." dang. but, ok, primary would have to suffice with cell phone hot spot as backup.

We had a company who does internet service everywhere in this area come out.
Turns out, they cannot provide internet to us. They do point to point, and we aren't on the top of our hill, and there is a row of trees on the hill across the road.
ouch. I was ready to pay $300/month for their commercial access.

So neither internet provider could provide service.

They had done a tower test for our neighbour, so, going to ask them what it was, and maybe see about a towe going in for both of us, but, can't happen until the spring when trees are in full leaf.

So, now on to plan 3, satellite internet.
Fingers crossed.
