Well, Hitler was on the right. Mussolini was on the right. And Italy's current interior minister is fascist, and on the far right. And Casa Pound helped in Italy, to elect the far right to government seats. They are unabashedly fascist.

Yes, fascism usually takes a reactionary turn to the far right.
 
Key qualities of fascism are extreme nationalism, that necessitates anti-immigration, a longing for a return to a mythical past, often supported by folklore, and unfaltering reverence for tradition, and a belief in the patriarch as the top of the family hierarchy - the national family as well as the family unit...as well as elite money from predatory capitalism supporting the continuation of the regime. Distain for weakness and revering the "strongman" leader are also fascist traits.

I was not threatening you with more viciousness. FFS. I was saying I have nort been vicious. Again, stop telling me what I am doing. You are taking things personally that have nothing to do with you.

I say the west contingent of wc2 meet in some neutral location for some hand to hand competition. Maybe mud wrestling. And beer. Then we send our champion to mop up the Ontario or Far East contingent.

Does he fit that description? He should ask himself. Some people - like certain factions in Europe - are not shy to call themselves fascists these days. I'm no longer shy to say I'm a democratic socialist.



That's the description of fascism, in the prior post. It's not my fault if some people actually fit it.

When the NDP is defeated in Alberta, you should consider leaving the very unhealthy left coast. Come to Calgary and prosper. There is a ton of pent up success waiting to happen. It is fun in Alberta when we are on a roll. Maybe even another olympics.

Ha! No. I have relatives there. I love them but I already know I couldn't live there...around Alberta. One uncle worked in oil. The other was a businessman but got into yoga and tai chi - he and his brother don't talk and it's amazing the latter stayed there. But that's because my dad is conservative and lives here. He's the only hard core conservative I know in BC. I love him very much but we cannot discuss politics anymore. At all. It's come perilously close to disowning one another. My aunt and her husband are fundamentalists and we can't discuss religion or politics. I remember liking visiting Alberta much more when I was too young to understand their politics. But thinking back...there were some pretty racist comments. My cousin in a small town even hung out with teenagers who drove a truck with a confederate flag on it. You would never see that here. So...no I'd rather be poor than live in Alberta, if those are the choices.

This is key. We may speculate all we like. Some choosing this point of view and others that. Our conversation opens to remedy when it makes present personal insights and commitments.
