I'm preaching on this twice - at the college - and then again in the mission church.

It's not until the end of April - but I'm so enthused I've already done my first draft of the sermon. (It may change radically, it all depends on what I learn in the course/reading/ revjohn., revsdd .)
I'll post it here, too......

I find myself loving the whole sermon bit - reading the text, looking up historical references, reading what others have to say online. Marinating it all away in my mind (hopefully guided by the Spirit) and the actual process of writing.

Interesting ... Mary Nating ... being Nate is wisdom ... conversion to Sophie in the swing of the penned you' Lem ... then Lem is a core thing in Hebrew ... why the Moon shot had a LEM?

This manipulation of languages is possibly why powers would druther common people not be literate with a great pool of these icons ... as it might create dark spot for the one's believing they are brighter electives in god's expanse!

Reminds me of a recently discovered word about paraphilia's in the ethereal domains ... the incomprehensible mind of the hole thing ...

I always found that when I wrote sermons, worshipping for me was

the reading, the references, the writing, the walk from the scripture to the finished product.

Yes, I've learnt a lot - just hope the congregation will, too.........

I paid a visit to my other church on Sunday, and had an interesting conversation with the liturgist -who is also a schoolteacher. She said that a lot of beginner preachers start out by copying their own minister -but they have to find their own voice. She said that's one problem I won't have to overcome - I've always had my own voice, lol!

My preaching professor told us that the goal when preaching is to be oneself but with more power.

Always recall the old sage ... power corrupts ... in absolute form is this beyond belief?

Thus we have been done ...

I suggest you amend that thought. Don't concern yourself with the notion that the congregation must learn a lot from any one sermon. Concern yourself that they, at the very least, learn something. You may not control what it is precisely that they learn, how they learn it or even how well they learn it. Your role is to share some of your learning.

Amen. Nobody is interested in my Reverend Ed Searcy impression. I haven't had the opportunity to learn from him in 20 years so it is probably rusty anyway. Nor are they much interested in my Reverend Art Tobey impression. I've got Art down pat since he has been a mentor and friend forever.

And nobody claims to even try doing a Reverend John Maich impression.

It isn't so much about finding one's voice. It is about finding one's own way. I preach the way I do because that is the way that I communicate. I study and look for ways to improve, who wouldn't? At the end of the day, the RevJohn in the pulpit is not in any radical way different from the RevJohn on Wondercafe except for all the verbal and physical prompts.

In a lot of circumstances is Sharon consider an evil blossoming? Could we have people learning Nus ... tuff? Like reading between lines ...

Is being one self isolated and against conforming modes ... assists God's Fresnel lens ...

Sage advice for any of us making presentations :)

Sage advice for any of us making presentations :)

Makes for the good application of story or myth about adepts ... thus the receiver can go figure! Some don't to keep it simple ... Jesus had trouble with that with ten sieved followers ... san peoples ... sanp a'bles ... a movie about opiate wars . they rage within ... as agon? yes it is a word ... the opposite to anagon ... even paragon ... things going on mostly unconsciously within ... affected greatly by genes and djinns ... gritty spooks?

One has to learn a great part of the human myth to cross that threshold ... the human binder a' cell? Neurone, or neurosis bother ...

Thus Nous ones as the old are dispatched ... occurs as nuance ...

So now I've written my sermon-which has to be no more than ten minutes, so I had to do a wee bit of editing............

I need some tips on sermon presentation.

I write my sermons in full - I'm too anxious to just preach from notes.
I'm concerned that I won't make sufficient eye contact with the congregation, and talk too fast.

Any helpful hints on presentation?

Lay your cards on the table.

If this is a worry to you explicitly state that concern so everybody is aware you are nervous.

It disarms critique (personal or other).

Before that read your script aloud in a comfortable environment. Where you pause naturally insert the phrase (I am pausing here). Do not read it aloud but do say it in your head. Now count back three words from that point and highlight those three words. As you read them you will look up and if appropriate you will smile. Keep looking and smiling while you mentally repeat the phrase "I am pausing here.)

As you scan your text look for places where repeat ideas or phrases. Mark those places so you can change inflection even if just a little.

Having read your script aloud and inserted pause points. Read it again with attention to what kind of sentence you are reading. Experiment with rhythym and cadence. Some sentences work with a staccato and others work with more gradual blending of sound.

Elocution is important in public speaking. Here in Canada we have a tendency to ease up on d and t and g when they end a word. In some cases they disappear altogether. It pays some times to make sure those sounds are heard. If you Aussies have similar linguistic carelessness be mindful of that.

Like Hoyle on Hibernia ... an Oli bore? Sometimes a prickly issue like Holly ... a replacement for Olee? And de Taurus goes on ...

Relax and stick you soul and heart into it ... so it will catch about 10% of the audience ... a tithe corner ... when "h's" are dropped as spatial sums ... integrals with gaps!

Remember that 10% ... another 10% will oppose and 80% will discover their minds somewhere else in disinterest ... the 80-20 rule as pente*th! Pensive? Just carry on Jude ... that's respect!

Hi,
Two thoughts occur. One, Jesus crosses religious boundaries to include the excluded. Two, Jesus desires anonymity more than celebrity.

George

Allows for humble humiliation and partisan structure unseen by the superbly facetious? GOOGLE search Janus, or IOnus (in another time) and discover the I onus looking from inception al space of sol ... a mythical burning critter sometimes portrayed as a Red Dragon ... unidentified or alien unknown ... any such way emotional people seem to put down knowledge, information, thoughts and wisdom ... thus lessor domains than imaginable ... rotten intelligence ... a stink in the back benches ... flat out as flatus or in fatuous ?

Wisdom is something that could be better cultivated and turned over ... tis a mystery ... at least an enigma ... scattered in the social psyche ... un-gatherable given the opposition to knowing? Perhaps for another time ... I remain ... out there out of sight .. as few wish to see either side! Generating Asclepius ... tis a mean cut to get loose of reality and the avarice there ...
