TRUMP - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Re-quoted for truth. I'm sure that many of you remember that when Food Banks first started to open in Canada in the 70s/80s, we all said that their best purpose would be to be short-lived. That the safety net would step up to meet this gap in need. However, the seemingly unending stream of potatoes, day old bread and cans of assorted stuff seems to get bigger, wider and more needed all the time.

No kidding ... what would people need to comprehend this?

S'x'th sense ... just before the fire starts! One does need to care for the other ... and first know what they are bellyaching about ... the reasoning may be obscure when many authorities tell the belly acres to be silent ... they have more important concerns ...

When labour-intense industries leave ... what does one do with labour? Does this compound complexities in the marketplace ... Hadassah? Oh ... more leisure time for hoo ...

A bit more about charity and justice:

"Jesus is remembered and presented by the early church as the faithful embodiment of an alternative consciousness. In his compassion he embodies the anguish of those rejected by the dominant culture, and as embodied anguish he has the authority to show the deathly end of the dominant culture. Quite clearly, the one thing the dominant culture cannot tolerate or co-opt is compassion, the ability to stand in solidarity with the victims of the present order. It can manage charity and good intentions, but it has no way to resist solidarity with pain or grief. So the structures of competence and competition stand helpless before the one who groaned the groans of the hurting ones. And in their groans they announce the end of the dominant social world. The imperial consciousness lives by its capacity to still the groans and to go on with business as usual as though none were hurting and there were no groans. If the groans become audible, if they can be heard in the streets and markets and courts, then the consciousness of dominations is already jeopardized. Thus the groans in Egypt (Exodus 2:23-25, 3:7) heralded the social novum. In like manner, Jesus had the capacity to give voice to the very hurt that had been muted and therefore newness could come. Newness comes precisely from expressed pain. Suffering made audible and visible produces hope, articulated grief is the gate of newness, and the history of Jesus is the history of entering into the pain and giving it voice."

Oh, I certainly recognize the perils - and difficulties - of doing anything useful on a large scale.

I suspect we are now going through what happened to Germany in the 1930s. People are turning against the governing we had. They are voting against. But they aren't voting for anything that holds promise for the future. Thus the U.S. gets a Trump. Thus Ontario gets Doug Ford. The alternative parties like the NDP and the Greens are too wimpy to outplay the Fords, and too timid to really lay out an alternative.

We're seeing very similar situations in Europe.

Ontario doesn't have Doug Ford.

Gee. jae, you're so smart. I would never have guessed that Ford hasn't actually been been elected yet. You must know everything.

No need for that tone Graeme. Best not to make statements like your, "Thus Ontario gets Doug Ford" if you know them not to be so.

Live in the exact moment Jae ... it is prescribed ... so you won't see it coming ... tis the nature of nun ... nothing ... absence of something! Abstract thought ... tis alien to the stuck ...

You object to tones????? Dead ringer ...

I feel crappy about it ... but it could be the severe bronchitis ... sometimes the fertilizer is too thick to breath ... chokes me up ...

Alas fecundity is widely distributed --- G Steinem (the genre may cause mental dislocation to those of singular patriarchy ... the alternate spirit) !

Ontario does not not have Ford.

ONPC party members (those who actually got to vote) decided Ford was the strongest contender for the ONPC.

Based on what criterion I do not know.

The ONLIBs long thought to be tired and ready for mothballing. Sent John Tory to the showers so hard he lost his seat and failed to win a subsequent by-election. They stood idly by while Hudak stuck a fork in himself twice before declaring he was done. Were conspicuously absent during the Brown meltdown and the ensuing circus.

And circus it was which is fitting because a clown now leads that pack.

It will be interesting to see, once the writ is dropped if Doug can stay quiet and not shoot himself in the floot.

Of course he could decide to be offensive (as close to going on offence as he can probably manage) and decide to enter the election trailing.

ON is tired of Wynne and the Libs. Hopefully they aren't so punch drunk tired that they can't see what a dumpster fire Ford would be.

What do you see as the best way forward for Ontario John?

Have a look at the NDP's platform. I mean, it's ambitious (dental care and pharmacare), but also plans to get Ontario Hydro out of the private sectors hands again and talks about executive compensation in a way that I like a great deal.

I like the NDP this time around. They'd have my support if I wasn't already a full supporter of the PPP.
