I saw Black Panther, on my own, last weekend, and enjoyed it. When I walked out I wasn't as impressed - but as I thought about it more, it was a well done movie, with some relevant messages - too many battle scenes - but it is a Marvel movie. Wakanda was quite an impressive place - the mix of primitive culture and extremely high tech was cool, I thought.
Tonight after work my friend took me to see "I, Tonya". It wasn't a movie I was itching to see but she invited me to share a free pass for two - which was really nice of her. The movie was a lot better than I expected! Tonya Harding put up with so much horrid abuse in her life, it was easy to see how it shaped her in some dysfunctional ways. But, good Lord, what a gaggle of doofuses her partner and his buddy, and acquaintances/ conspirators were! She made some bad choices too, It was quite (shockingly) funny in parts. What a gong show...the same way the Trump fiasco is shockingly funny, except the Harding mess was less consequential for the world ...I didn't realize some of those interviews were pretty much exact reenactments. That Shaun dude...wow. A piece of work.
