Job 19:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at last he will stand upon the earth;

Job 19:26 and after my skin has been thus destroyed, then from my flesh I shall see God,
You'd think landscapers would be seeing God all over the place.

Neo ----your quote ------No, I wish there were such a place. It's been predicted that the "Mystery Schools" will once again be of import to Humanity, but it doesn't seem apparent yet.

Seems like they are still in existence Neo ---One right here in Canada -----So pack your bags and away you go to your Church -------

What is A Mystery School

The MMS is one of the seven great mystery schools in the world. It has been charged with the preservation and handing down of the teachings to the public. Of the seven great schools, the MMS is the only one open to the public. It is the only school to publicly advertise and promote the various initiations into The Great Brotherhood and Sisterhood of Light.

The MMS currently has centres located throughout Canada, The Uk, Ireland, Dubai, Hong Kong, Portugal, Spain, Japan, India, the United States, South Africa, Taiwan, the Philippines and is constantly growing throughout the world.

Not quite what I was looking for, I was thinking more along this line: About the Arcane School (Lucis Trust)

Neo, your interest seems to intersect with one of mine. Have you investigated deliberate "non-violent communication" - the work of Marshall Rosenberg and the communities that evolved from his teaching?

I checked one of his videos, and while I'm all for "non-violent communication" it's personally not my cup of tea.

Almost sorry I mentioned it. Jae, Neo, this is a philosophy that suggests that much of the way we behave in the world is inadvertently violent, and seeks a way to move ourselves, and our children, in a less confrontational, less dualist, way.

Here's a good summary of his/their philosophy. It's really hard to disagree with, equally hard to practice:

Thanks Bette, that video was much better than the one I viewed earlier. I agree, it's hard to disagree with his philosophy. We need some of that less confrontational approach here in the Cafe.

Do any of you consider yourself Christian and a follower of Jesus but interpret the resurrection to have more of a metaphorical meaning or even a different kind of resurrection?(eg. spiritual only, etc) Is Jesus the son of God or a son of God? Is there support for your particular viewpoint within the Bible or other sources?

I honestly don't know if the resurrection occurred - bodily or spiritually.
But, at the same time, without the resurrection - reality or myth - I doubt whether Christianity would have survived throughout the centuries.

I do see it as a metaphor in the sense that once you have an experience of faith your life changes (you could say that you are reborn).

So much depends on how you view the Bible......
Some see it as the word of God - which, seeing God didn't write the Bible himself -is, at the very least, open to questioning....

I've come to see the Bible as descriptive -rather than prescriptive. In short, throughout the centuries folks -within a cultural and time context - grapple with earlier descriptions and change them to see them through their own descriptive lens. Interpretations will thus continue to change -as folks change -through both time and experience.

You prefer violent communication?

Some people prefer hostile confrontations ... or we wouldn't have Romantics with their games in the Circus ... bad case of bdsm?
They believe it macho ... when a story/myth can raise more curiosity about the challenge of where to put what!

Even trolls and fishermen get the itch ...

And don't we go to schools of mystery all our life where we learn things that were previously a mystery?

Huh, OK, some don't wish to know anything but the same old, same old ... which is no older that today's Nous ... don't go any farther than that in said dimension ... thus well spoken ...

Word can be like that cultivated to be alien ... suits some peoples ... thus IT wasn't familiar!

You don't sound like you're questioning to me PilgrimsProgress. Rather, you sound secure in your belief that it is not the word of God.

I would say it is the word of many, most books written by different authors at different times and compiled and chosen by a few to make up what we call the Bible....and also choosing to leave many other books that were read by some early Christians out.

Also, PP is not talking about divine inspiration, but divine writing. The former is quite rational, the latter is "magick".

Mormonism has been around for 200 years, and that was founded by a confirmed con man using rocks he found but wouldn't show anyone.
