Is Ontario headed for another Wynne win?

Oh God, are the PCs really trying to pull defeat from the jaws of victory again? Party infighting with members threatening to defect to splinter parties or even the NDP is not the face a party with a high chance of victory in less than a year should be showing the public. They are ahead now but can they retain that lead if crap like this continues?

Honestly, my vote is probably going to the NDP next year, maybe Green, but the sight of the party that should be a cakewalk to win after all the Liberals problems and bad policy decisions turning in on itself is kind of disheartening. Are the PCs finished as an effective option in Ontario? Do we need to give the NDP another chance at Queen's Park and let the Tories melt down in opposition?

Maybe the leadership is right. Maybe this is just a few malcontents. But that's not what it sounds like.

As someone who believes the Liberals need a "time out," I have an open mind toward the possibility of voting for the PCs next year. Mostly because our incumbent MPP in Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock is a PC, and I think she's doing a really good job. I'm also surprised in that I've actually been strangely impressed with Patrick Brown - perhaps because my expectations of him were so low to begin with, so it was relatively easy for him to exceed them. I'm also open to the Greens (who are often my refuge when I can't support any of the Big 3.) I have never been a big believer in Andrea Horwath and the NDP does not turn my crank.

The departure of social conservatives to the Trillium Party doesn't surprise me, but it could hurt the PCs in some ridings. Brown's flip-flops on the sex-ed curriculum and the carbon tax have been flip flops in the right direction for me, but they do make me wonder whether he's sincere and would follow through as Premier. Disputes over riding nominations happen to all parties who look on the edge of victory because people want the nominations of a party that looks like it's going to win and the fights often get nasty. Generally speaking parties recover from those just because of the prospect of victory.

But in answer to the thread title, I think it's entirely possible that Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals could win another election. I'm not saying it will happen and I'm not rejoicing over that prospect, but I believe it's possible.

I can't vote for the Liberals because of the whole sex-ed scandal. I'll choose between the Conservatives and the Green Party.

You do realize that one of the things Brown did that upset the so-cons was to back off on sex ed and start saying he now supports it.

So imho if a person doesn't take legal action it means that the quote is accurate?

The Conservatives have to purge themselves of the religious right to regain relevance. Or maybe they can manipulate enough recent immigrants, pool them with the remaining social conservatives, and still win. Combine that with the Liberal scandals and NDP incompetence, and maybe that's enough. Then they might win because they are seen as the least bad, but the Liberals are rightly going to bring up abortion and the sex ed platform that Brown himself used as wedge issues to gain the nomination.

The last thing the Liberals should do is to bring up abortion and the sex-ed scandal. Doing so would be a sure way to guarantee themselves defeat.

Oh, and you just think everyone and everything should "purge themselves" of that which is religious.

I think religion is baseless and stupid, it's true, but the reason I say that religious conservatives have trouble winning Queen's Park is because of declining religiosity in this province and the rest of Canada.
