I'm drinking a white tea with pomegranate and blueberry this morning.

I've had one like that (forget the source). I'm not crazy about pomegranate as a fruit, but it goes nicely in tea. Now sipping a David's Cream of Earl Grey (Ceylonese black with bergamot, vanilla, and cornflowers).

No tea, no coffee, not even sure if I'll be able stomach breakfast this morning :( seems I was wrong about about the reaction being over.

Not supposed to have any stress in my life so I get healthy, but my (lack of) health is currently the biggest source of stress.

*Graeme consigns all of Asia to the status of wimphood* Why am I not surprised?

I'm off to drink some green tea with Pinga. Also, temporarily, LAST.

On a different subject than hot beverages...

Happy Star Trek Day!

Did you know that this fall there'll be a new program telling the adventures of a new valiant crew who boldly go into space on their starship?

It's called "The Orville." The premiere is this Sunday, 8pm on CityTV and FOX. I'm really looking forward to it.

It's also created by and starring Seth Meyers (Family Guy, Ted) involved so expect a lot of loudly laughing with your boldly going.

And "Happy Star Trek Day" to you, too!

Actually, many Asians prefer coffee. It's the world's drink.

Yeah, Bucky's has definitely made their presence felt in major Chinese cities. I know of two in Shanghai. Tea is still probably killing coffee in popularity there but coffee is definitely being drunk.

Thanks. :)

There will also be the new show Star Trek Discovery, which is premiering on CBS for free and then will be shown on CBS All Access for money (Space here in Canada). The buzz I've been hearing is that The Orville is likely to be a minor hit; while Discovery is likely to flop.

The former even has some Trek alumni working on it.

‘The Orville’ packed with Star Trek alums

Yeah, Discovery has had a difficult birthing process. Most notably, showrunner/writer Bryan Fuller jumped ship early (officially because his commitments to other properties like American Gods, unofficially, he wasn't happy with how things were shaping up) and his past record (Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, American Gods) had made many hopeful this would be a great addition to the Trek franchise. There has been some glimmers of hope more recently, though the redesigned Klingons are going to take some getting used to (esp. since this is supposed to happen just before the original series and these Klingons look nothing like either OS Klingons or Next Generation Klingons).

So I was just called a racist on Facebook.
I was posting in a group on reformed theology. The subject being discussed was diversity in church leadership. I suggested that maybe there's a problem going on when it seems the majority of North American pastors are white. Ah well, at least on here I'm last.

There is, actually. UUA is going through a lot of soul-searching right now on that front. While we are actively supporting things like BLM and demonstrated with other liberal churches against the alt-right/nazis in Charlottesville, our membership and leadership are predominantly white which leads to questions of what role white privilege plays in our faith and organizations. CUC is much the same, though I'm not hearing as much soul-searching going on. At least at the time I stopped being active, my fellowship had one Black member (an American activist from who immigrated many years ago) and a Latino family (from Columbia IIRC). Everyone else was some variation of white ethnically save for occasionals like Mrs. M, who generally only came if I was in the pulpit.

I feel most tea gourmets would say that the best way to make tea does not involve using teabags.

Depends. There are some decent bag teas out there, IME. Some of the better brands like Twinings and Bigelow's are quite good (in fact, it was Bigelow's that got me into drinking flavoured teas back in uni) but also expensive relative to comparable loose leafs. However, the grocery store varieties (Red Rose, Tetley, PC) generally are inferior to the best tea store loose leaf.

EDIT: Tazo is good and has a very diverse lineup of flavours.
