"A Russian" gives me a clue that it was a single pianist? That's hard slogging for a newbie, but good sleeping music usually. I put CBC's "piano" stream on for the dog when I go out. Seems calming to her.
LAST as I chuckle about Bette's highbrow dog.

One of the best gifts I had from Dad was hearing classical music from early on. While my tastes in music are quite broad (from Bach to Walk Off the Earth, as I like to say), enjoying classical music has influenced my overall taste in music in various ways (e.g. I tend love melodic music rather than rhythmic, bass-heavy stuff like rap and hip-hop)

Got my love of folk and gospel music from my upbringing.

@red coaster brakes still exist on "cruiser bikes". Expensive single speeds for crusin' down to the beach. I don't have one.

Absolutely, it's a love that's cultivated early in life. I suspect we all have 'home' music bases. My mother only liked classical music, particularly opera. Dad was fond of folk music, so I had that influence as well.

Who remembers when bicycles had one speed? And who remembers the American ones with the big, fat tires?

My folk music idol was Pete Seeger. But that was another, and better, world. I saw him on stage a couple of times.

When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a bicycle. Anyway, our flat was so small, there was no place for it. But it was possible to rent a bike for 25 cents for half a day.
