We should have a camp thread some time. Have a fire, sing those songs and roast marshmallows.
It was Explorer and CGIT camp for me back in the day.

Only Girl Guides for me - Gramma and mom were leaders for decades, though mom led Explorers for a while in Crossfield before I was born

We once had a CGIT thread on the original WC. I don't remember if there was ever a Guide thread.

Lots of good memories either way.

Scouting is now co-ed, I understand.

So I've heard. Little M was never much interested so I haven't had any contact with Scouting since Dad quit being a leader 30ish years ago. Well, except for Dad's visitation. 3 of my old Scout leaders came to the visitation together, one of them in uniform.

There wasn't a separate Guide thread on WC that I remember - I popped into the CGIT one...and we discussed both groups on the LPT. Yes, Scouting is co-ed to make it more family friendly.

Wolf Cub camp, private kids' camp, sports camp, church and Seminary retreats. To add in day camps - Lava Lava Island VBS, and ROM Saturday Morning Club.

Refund arrived from gov't...this has been a lot of hassle and paperwork for such a small amount of money.

Perhaps not many of you have heard of the ROM Saturday Morning Club. It was a special program, for advanced students, run by the museum. Not just anyone could get in. My brother Dr. Rae and I were two of the few chosen to gather at the museum each Saturday Morning, see a documentary, and then break into groups for learning in the different museum departments. My favorite class was one called, "The Silk Road." It was so enriching that I opted to enroll in it twice.

That sounds like a great program. It's what our museums and other institutions should be doing more of.

I consider myself Canadian despite having been born and raised elsewhere. I left that other country and am now a small part of this one. No - I will not post proof of Scottish or any other ethnic origin .
