at our last Board meeting, they made a bit of a fuss over the members who had spearheaded our Affirming process.

There, @Jae. Perhaps you missed that part of her post or were confused by her use of the third person and thought that meant she wasn't included.

Jae some days you are particularly dense. Bette spearheaded the affirming process. The Board thanked her with a dove and rainbow pin.

So, I read that, thanks @Mendalla. The part I'm not understanding is why @BetteTheRed was the one person who was given the gift. What did she do that was judged to be especially worthy of receiving something?

She never said she was the only one and did use the plural in the part I quoted. Likely there was a committee that organized things (we are talking the UCCan after all:D) so perhaps she served on or chaired it.

Whatever the reasons, the Board clearly valued the contributions that @BetteTheRed and the others honoured made.

Tabitha, Bette said (new emphasis mine), "at our last Board meeting, they made a bit of a fuss over the MEMBERS who had spearheaded our Affirming process."

That's members Tabitha, in the plural. Thus the question - why was the gift given to Bette alone?

She mentioned a plurality of members, but only one gift-getter and only one gift.

OK, wasn't going to bring it up, but now, having read about other gifts being given and received, I just gotta ask...

Has anyone ever given, or received, a Chia Pet as a gift? If so, how was it received?

Sis and I got one from Gramma when we were kids - it was a novelty, but didn't grow very well in the end.

I didn't note that BetteThe Red was the only person to receive a gift on behalf of the congregation. Maybe there are several people wearing doves?

Jae - thanks for well wishes but no thanks to getting gifts from your personal wish list. I already own several Bibles(including the New Testament in Cockney). Books and music that are Christian in the sense that you tend to use that word don't appeal to me either.

Maybe I could start a thread elsewhere so people can post their wish list for gifts from others?

Yesterday the acupuncturist told me to make sure I don't get chilled...I asked him if he was aware how cold it is in Central AB!

That sounds worth a read. Which leads me to wonder if there are Bibles in other favorite dialects of mine. An Auld Scots Bible (a la Robbie Burns) would be great read, too.
A Scottish book I got from the Library yesterday has the Lord's Prayer in Scots. :)
