Spousal Abuse

It is why we are called mortal ... then there are some that with avarice believe they can become like immoral while on earth ... fallout theory at it's best.

Yet the rest of us are denied the abstract ... sometimes known as imagination of comprehension of things beyond us ... out there ... obtuse or OBI's ... dark eyes? Owl ordie ...

Hugs, Naman. Sounds like it's all been very sensibly set up; you are wise people.

Because I find it hard to watch people suffer, I offer the following in the hopes it might provide some minor relief. What if namana was to regularly, once a day or so, spend some time listening to self-hypnosis tracks available on youtube? There are lots of pleasant 30 min, 1 hr ones, with a variety of voices available to suit your preference (I'm partial to an Aussie bass, myself...), and purposes which range from the very practical (lose weight, become a non-smoker, addiction) to the extremely soothing (I've selected 7 tracks to convert to mp3 for my overseas flight) to the fanciful (meet your spirit guide/animal, past-life, etc.). The kind that may benefit Namana fit into the second category: there are sleep hypnosis, relaxation hypnosis, positive thinking, clearing negative thinking, etc.

Thanks for the above comments. I have heard about enough opinions.

In this thread I was attempting to see a parallel between spousal abuse, as broadcast in the CBC program the War At Home, and and the elder abuse I have viewed first hand.

I would have been better served if the CBC had had a program on elder abuse, but I have to make do with what is available.

The program on TV showed victims of violent beatings which sometimes lead to them being murdered.

The mother in our family has no physical bruises for us to see. But she is a financial wreck and sometimes has to be taken to hospital and no one seems to know what the problem is.

How do you think they're the same or different, naman?

Seems to me that there is a different dynamic at play. The dynamic between two adults who live and grow together, presumably as equals, is very different than the deep dependence evolving into loving independence that is the desired parent-child relationship.

The Bible thinks they're different enough that there are different commandments about the relationships.

However, abuse is abuse. The best of the bible tells us to live in service to all of our fellow humanity. If you are serving someone, you can't be abusing them, I don't think. And I'm not sure that psychic abuse is any better than physical abuse.

I wondered about that when I posted, I almost posted '(in)dependence, in the sense of two whole equal people who mutually and freely depend on each other.

But the adult parent/adult child dynamic is very different, in that there is supposed to have been an evolution from perfect dependence to perfect loving in(ter)dependence, which always has potentials to veer into co-dependence. They're really different sorts of relationships; I wasn't being flippant at all when I suggested that this is why there are different commandments.

I can not be independent of Samana's suffering.

Namana ---> Sam Anna ... good transference ! Like the comprehension that within us are 6 person grandparents, parents and a pair of children as male-female connections by genre ... completion allows connections of greatest fears, desires and aspirations ... the alloyed soul the "-ite" bitty thing as where one collapses ... falls at night?

"Dear Lord bring down the dark cloud with silver lining ..."
Sad song of the wrinkled and ancient ... still we do not listen ... wilted in a sense/scents of ephrine ... accrued hormones of emotion ... end o cry 'ns?

Two desired needs ... some heart for intellect ... a demiurge? If you halve half a mine too ... congeal some where's else ...

Spousal abuse has only become a public issue in the last few years and is starting to get more public attention and there are places for the victims to take refuge.

Little attention is being paid to elder abuse. And Namana seems to have taken refuge with me and I can not very well stop the abuse on my own.
