The White House is livid that Trump didn't win the Nobel Prize for Peace this time around. Do you think he deserves to receive such an honour?

You started a thread with a rhetorical question ;)

Marco Rubio, I just read, recommended the current Venezuelan winner, though. I wonder what fresh trickery that’s all about.

Maybe it was noble of her to give him a shout out with her Nobel - in a weird way. If it can help. It can’t hurt. …maybe.

Trump is someone who needs the ego strokes and happens to be POTUS. It might help to give him a mention maybe? Maybe she’s trying to tame a loose cannon. If he “feels” great as long as he’s not doing damage - maybe that’s a strategy. Unorthodox narcissistic presidents need to be handled differently, for the greater good - even if it seems distasteful? Or maybe he’ll be inspired by jealousy, and happy to be mentioned and try to be a better peacemaker than the woman who won. He said in the meeting with Carney that Carney’s a great guy but he wants to be great too.

Maybe making America great again, means making Trump great by encouraging actually great things.

I am only guessing, wishful thinking, because it’s all so weird.

If he were surrounded by actually good influences who are kind to him - maybe he’d try to deserve it by being an even better influence. If being a peacemaker made him the coolest kid in the world and that healed his wounds maybe everybody would be better off. I’m trying to imagine that. Whatever it is, he doesn’t respond to the usual approach.

There was supposed to be, not sure what happened to it. There is a something-or-other beneath each post, I don't know what it means. Anyone else know what it is?
You chose the "Question" thread type instead of "Poll". Can't change it for you now (on my phone in a hotel room) but maybe tomorrow when I am back in Canada.

On topic, I think the Nobel committee made a good call with this one and, as The Economist pointed out, she is aligned with Trump's apparent interest in regime change in her country and did mention him in her response.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Corina Machado said:

"I decided to dedicate it to President Trump because he deserves it!

"Because not only has he been involved in only a few months in solving 8 wars, but his actions have been decisive to have Venezuela now at a threshold of freedom after 26 years of tyranny!"

"I INSIST he deserves it."

"President Trump has been very clear, courageous in terms of dismantling these criminal structures. And on behalf of the Venezuelan people, I reaffirmed our gratitude and our commitment to this cause for the whole of America."
