RIP Michael Burgess

Canadian singer Michael Burgess has passed away at 70. Best known as Jean Valjean in the first Canadian production of Les Miserables, he packed a fairly solid pop tenor voice that was heard in many other places in the decades since that show. Not too much footage of him on Youtube and most of it is tributes posted since the announcement of his death but I found these.

A performance of two uplifting songs from 2012.

Teaming up with Colm Wilkinson, the original Jean Valjean, to perform "Bring Him Home" from Les Miserables for the 1992 Sick Kids Telethon.

And I'll leave it there. That song is as good a send-off as any I can thing of.

For whatever reason I never cared very much for Michael Burgess, but I can't deny that he was a giant of the Canadian stage. RIP.
