Well, if it was a bee, the eagle wouldn't have been stopped dead in its flight, only to plummet, failing about 25 ft. before regaining its bearings. That said, your bee theory eliminates the need for a sci-fi worthy alternative! I wonder how high solitary bees fly.
Could've been a wind pocket up high, not felt on the ground as trees and buildings are in the way, breaking the wind - or just not reaching the ground - turbulence. Wind is stronger at higher elevations.
Maybe it was some kind of electric current being generated by people or weather. It doesn't automatically have to be sci-fi just because we can't see the cause with our eyes. It was probably wind. When my umbrella is out on a windy day - it can stop me in my tracks. Up higher birds could be dealing with the same effect even if we aren't feeling the effect on the ground, if they are flying against the current - that is my guess.
Gosh, why do you wish to seek out logical reasons? Much easier and powerful to presume miracles are now common place while you ignore the reality of medical science.
Jeepers, if we all only had the blind faith of Mystic
I bow down, as does any dutiful woman and then raise my arms in celebration and praise for the gift of his enlightenment.
For now our eyes and those of our compatriots see. Yes Yes Yes, there is still so far to go.
"...myopic thought Ghetto...." Mystic
What a superior point of view this quote presupposes. I wonder if the author would be interested in a dialogic consideration of respect appropriate to guests welcomed in this common space irrespective of limitation?

A bit on aging
From infancy I have anticipated being old like grandpa. He and I shared a deep love. What a gift for a child to share in the heart and soul of a person so experienced in the way of life on earth. Many years later I served as a personal aide to elderly gentlemen experiencing chronic and terminal illnesses. A delight to offer my character and ability in service to those who laid the foundations of our social economy (I am well aware of the corruption of that economy by succeeding generations).
At sixty-five I celebrate my process of aging. There are new limits on my material capacity. My spiritual capacity is more than sufficient for the eclipsing of such limiting circumstance. My heart and soul are much saddened by the madness now at large in the human world. This will surely increase as the days draw us deeper into the consequence of our decisions and actions to this day.
If I am taken in the next moment there will be no regret. This is not resignation. I will gladly live any number of days extending well into the next decades. I will not fight to obtain them. I will pray and work to make the most of them in the way of justice, without which there can be no peace.
