This post is inspired from the Exodus thread.
Jesus taught Christians to turn the other cheek and God's sixth commandment says Thou Shalt Not Kill (Murder).
Exodus tells us to let God Handle it. Sit still. But in Samuel we will see the Amalakites attack and God ordering Israel to destroy every Amalakite man, woman, child and animal. God appears horrible with this decision.
My questions are,
1.)Does God expect us to turn the other cheek to everyone? Including armies?
2.)If Canada quit NATO, could we claim neutrality and stop supplying money and arms to nations, and only participate as a place of refuge and giving medical supplies and humanitarian help?
3.) Would enemies respect this decision by not invading Canada?
4.) What lines up more with your religious values or human values? Defend and go to war or remain neutral?
4.)

Would enemies respect this decision by not invading Canada?
We cannot rely on this. Sweden and Switzerland, the two best known Western neutral countries, did not rely on their enemies respect but on earning that respect by maintaining a robust, well-funded military, trained reserves (esp. in Switzerland where military training is mandatory), and a successful domestic arms industry (e.g. Sweden's successful Saab Viggen and Draken aircraft). Of course, Switzerland also has amazing natural fortifications and plans to take advantage of them (e.g. blocking mountain passes to stop or slow invasions). And even with all that, Sweden ultimately ended up joining NATO.

We could stop supplying arms to other nations but if we wanted to be secure, we would have to hit that 2% and higher of GDP spending on our own military. Basically, stop exporting arms but deploy more of them at home. And we would probably have to institute mandatory military service of some form, maybe everyone gets a summer of basic training between high school and college or something and then is required to register with their local reserve unit.

It's a lofty goal and one I would, in fact, support but you don't achieve neutrality by disarming. In fact, neutrals are some of the best armed and trained militaries on the planet. They just don't operate outside their own borders much (maybe the odd peacekeeping mission but that's about it).

Short version: To be neutral, you need to live in peace but be capable of kicking serious butt.
