Hello and welcome to this new incarnation of a feature we first introduced in April of 2021. The idea is simple. On Sunday, a host (sometimes me, sometimes others) posts a new thread with a bible passage and some commentary. Other WC2 members are then invited to chime in with comments, learnings, ideas, what that passage means to their spiritual life, and so on.
We will generally post a link to the passage in our preferred translation (I prefer NRSV but others may use different ones) on BibleGateway or similar, but obviously you can follow along with whatever translation you use. In fact, if you see an interesting difference between the version you use and the versions used by the host and other participants, that's something that can be discussed.
The forum is set up so that only people set up as hosts can create new threads. There's a loose team in place but if you have an idea, drop me a conversation letting me know what passage you want to discuss and what Sunday you would be ready to post your thread starter. I am kind of the editor for this forum so if you need a post of yours edited or deleted or something, also contact me.
Our Community Values apply here as on other parts of the site. Some guidelines for this forum, all rooted in our values, appear below. Please observe them. As editor, I do have moderator rights in this specific forum but plan/hope to not use them. Council can also moderate in here but will only do so in extenuating circumstances.

- Please keep threads on topic. BPoTW is intended as a focused forum with a specific theme, similar to a specialty forum. As in specialty forums, we ask that tangents and digressions be taken to threads in the appropriate general forum, usually Religion & Faith for discussion in this site.
- There may be times when a host does a series based on a theme or book. In this case, there may be grounds for posts that reference across BPoTW threads. These will not be considered off-topic.
- Please respect other posters. The attitude here is that we are all qualified to have ideas, opinions, and beliefs about the Bible. Putting down someone for their thoughts, attacking others for their beliefs, and so on is not conducive to the kind of discussion we want here. You can, of course, ask questions about other's ideas but do it in a respectful manner, not in a way that belittles them.
- Please link to sources and/or use the quote function. This makes it far easier for people to read your references and know what is yours and what you are getting from others.
- Please do not promote views or ideas not in keeping with our code. Yes, some passages in the Bible can be interpreted or understood in ways that attack other people and faiths. We do not want to see those interpretations promoted on here.
