With the ongoing wildfires, I am wondering if anyone has experience with air purifiers. Do they work? Also with smoke? What maintenance do they need? @Mendalla - as someone who has worked with people with breathing issues, is this something your company would recommend? Or are those just a money grab?
Yes, the good ones work. I had one that just needed rinsing (from how dirty it was I know it was filtering dust in the air) but I left it behind in my last move. It was Honeywell. I have a smaller one now that works okay - it also has a hole in the top to put drops of essential oil in it and blows cool air - it’s more of a fan/ air freshener than a good filter and I think it’s time to buy a new filter for it. The filter looks like corrugated paper. It was cheap and not as good so I regret not packing the other one but my old roommate also used it and I didn’t have a lot of space to move everything so I left some things behind.
For reasonably priced, I’d recommend Honeywell. It was good and for a few dollars more you can get a better one than I had. It does clean the air. It was a bit noisy at night, but I got used to the white noise blocking out any traffic noise etc so it was sometimes helpful for that. The best ones are supposedly Dyson - quieter too - but they are really expensive and I’ve never tried one. Not sure if I’ve been somewhere while a Dyson is in use or not but theyre high end/ higher priced.
@Mendalla would know better but that’s my experience and what I’ve heard about Dyson.
