I gave this Reflection yesterday (Sunday)........ file:///C:/Users/pilgr/Documents/Religion/Lectionaries/THE%20COMMISSIONING%20OF%20THE%20DISCIPLES.pdf Oops! Doesn't seem to work??

Michael J. Morris (qwerty of Wondercafe)

Oh, how sad - I've just come across this, as I'm not here that often these days....... My favourite name for him was Rumpole...... I remember meeting him at the Wondercafe picnic. I'd brought some Australian red wine with me and some vegemite. The vegemite wasn't a hit, but the wine was...

Acts 1:6-14 Jesus Ascends; the Disciples Await the Advocate/Spirit

I've always had reservations about "speaking in tongues".........

Acts 1:6-14 Jesus Ascends; the Disciples Await the Advocate/Spirit

I agree with this. That's why I say Process Theology is a framework for my faith - it is not my faith.

Implications of the Biblical Interventionist God

Methinks the Bible is not an encyclopedia, not a dictionary, not an historical account - it's LITERATURE! Like all literature, it seeks to make sense of this world and our place in it. I sometimes despair that, as children, we love fairytales - but when that adult rational brain gets going, we...

Implications of the Biblical Interventionist God

I tend to think you're putting the cart before the horse. If you have a lot of hate in your psyche you'll grab onto anything that acts as a channel for that hate. Racism, homophobia, Fundamentalist religious notions of evil, etc, etc.

Implications of the Biblical Interventionist God

On the other hand, it depends on how you read the Bible. You can read it literally, and go by the literal meaning of words - in which case I agree with what you say. But if you have a less literal lens when you read the Bible - as I do - you look for the essence of what Jesus meant. When you do...

Implications of the Biblical Interventionist God

I get what you mean...... But, I'm happy to stick with Kingdom - if it's good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for Pilgrim!..

Implications of the Biblical Interventionist God

When you get behind the academic writing on Process Theology it actually has a lot of practical advice on how to live out your life as a person of faith. Here is an example....... When I attended a Process Theology seminar in Claremont, USA, I met John B. Cobb, and asked him this question. "As...

Implications of the Biblical Interventionist God

I agree with Mendalla - it's too "academic" to attract the interest that, i.m.o. it should attract. Oord is attempting to rectify this, but I found Marjorie Suchoki helpful. https://processandfaith.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/what-is-process-theology.pdf

Is the Christian story a myth?

Yes, maybe 1st century Christian? No, that doesn't really work either..... I think I'll settle for "Follower of the Way of Jesus in Hoping and Working towards the Kingdom of God to reign here on Earth." (Er, it does sound a bit long-winded to put on a church building!)

Is the Christian story a myth?

In my particular case, I think we can rule out circumcision........

Is the Christian story a myth?

Yes, I've sometimes wondered if my faith is really Jewish - except I really like Jesus's message about what he termed "The Kingdom of God". Although it seems impossible to achieve - I've always thought it was worth aiming for. A Kingdom based on love - no more wars, just a good ole love-in!

Is the Christian story a myth?

You can be a Christian, and not believe that the Bible is literal truth. All stories (including the Bible) are people's attempts to make sense of the world and relationships etc. Some, but not all, Christians believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God. Some Christians, like me, see...
