Sound Field comes North

I talked about the PBS Digital Studios show Sound Field in the thread on banjo music. I have known for a while that one of the show's hosts, pianist Nahre Sol, had been in Toronto this past summer with a crew shooting an interview with indigenous electronic music artists A Tribe Called Red. Tribe were largely the inventors of a style of EDM they call electric powwow, combining traditional drumming and singing with modern electronic music. And the interview is a great look at the group and how they approach music. The other host, drummer LA Buckner, added some background by meeting with a traditional drum circle in Minnesota.

Some rather conventional EDM-hip hop (ie. not really electric pow wow) from Tribe, but it's good EDM hip hop featuring recent Polaris winner Haviah Mighty and Odario (Williams, as in the host of CBC 2 After Dark) rapping over Tribe's tracks.
