If God is all-powerful and all-good, why is there so much suffering in the world?

The Bible never promises a painless world.

It says humanity's fallen. That evil's real! THAT GOD ORDAINS EVEN PAINFUL EVENTS FOR PURPOSES WE DON'T FULLY GRASP!

What looks pointless from our pov isn't necessarily pointless from God's.

Suffering's existence's not the biggest problem for Christianity.The bigger question's why people keep acting as though suffering's objectively wrong and that justice should exist

Because the Bible is a 2000+ year-old collection of myth, poetry, history, philosophy, and even letters. It lacks consistency due to the various texts having multiple authors over a period of centuries. That leaves much of it open to interpretation, which is necessarily subjective. So two people who are equally sincere in their faith can still come to very different conclusions about details of that faith, even reading the same passage. No mystery there that I can see, just human nature. Almost any work of literature is subject to this, spiritual or secular. The more removed we are from when the work was written, the more interpretation there is because we live in a different historical context from the author .

For me, Mendalla, interpretation's existence doesn't undermine the Bible's value or truth any more than a painting's different interpretations mean the artist had nothing meaningful to communicate.

In the end, Christian faith's about trusting that God can speak through Scripture despite our limitations, and approaching it with humility. Prayer! A WILLINGNESS TO KEEP LEARNING
 
In "learning" what could we do with something called stoned and fixated? No change ... the earth turner stops ... no horizon?

I have doubts and even about Thomas ... once known as To'me where intellect rests ... damn tom as something other ... howler!

Thomas, Luce, wanted to see for himself! His doubt became part of his journey toward faith.

From my perspective, when the EARTH TURNER STOPS, and there seems to be no horizon, that's often when grace matters most. We can take the next small step.

Sometimes grasping grows quietly through prayer. Experience. SIMPLY REMAINING OPEN!

I tend to see doubt as an ask to keep seeking with humility

All things, Luce, are upheld by God's providence, so seeing causes in creation doesn't require excluding the Creator behind them.

The most pious souls are reserved about mystical claims because they want their footing on what God has clearly revealed.

Appearances deceive.

A quiet trust in God's sovereignty looks less dramatic than people expect.

Deep faith rests in the conviction that every stream, every stone, EVERY BREATH belongs to Christ.
 
As I look out at the great extent it seems there is a lot more dimension to what is out there than on one wee bit of stone ... sand in flight ... due to some alien wave formation! Flappers ...

My view

God gave mankind control over the earth ------God cursed this earth and mankind has a flawed nature -----and God made Satan the god of this earth -----so some suffering comes from the curse God gave for people's disobedience to keep his commands -----some suffering comes from our own bad choices we make ----like driving drunk -----getting caught while having an adulteress affair ---breaking worldly laws ---etc -----and some suffering comes from Satan who came to kill --steal and destroy humans -----Job is an example -----

God is all powerful and all good ---but if God interfered in the world's suffering after giving man kind the control over the earth it would make Him a Liar and He would be untrustworthy -as He would be going against His own Word and -----

Genesis 1

27 So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them.

28 And God blessed them [granting them certain authority] and said to them, “Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subjugate it [putting it under your power]; and rule over (dominate) the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

Now God can get involved in the world's suffering if He is invited through Prayer and being asked to get involved ---- Human kind detests God and has decided to keep God out of Helping with worldly suffering -----Governments don't pray to God to keep Suffering out -----Schools don't pray to God to keep suffering out ----and Sinners don't Pray to God to keep suffering out of their own lives ------

So Humankind is their own worst enemy -----

John 4:24​

24 God is spirit, and it is necessary to worship God in spirit and truth.”


Worldly Suffering comes from the Curse -----read Deuteronomy 28 ---Curses for disobedience and there are many -----

Would mortal comments about the infinite indicate the gap between what one can see of the other over such a great distance? Yet the mortal will swear about what they know of immortal stretches ...

However pride and such extended esteem can push humans beyond their limits and indicate to the observer where the shortfalls in knowledge was found toby lacking ...

However some will swear they know more than possible ... it is hauntingly embarrassing like some POTUS that is ineffable ... indicating how mortals can be placed in a position where they don't know Beta ... the second person they should 'ave?

God acts, unsafe, because He's sovereign and merciful.

"Our God's in the heavens. He does all that he pleases" (Psalm 115:3).

I find great comfort in knowing that no suffering's outside God's control.

Job's story reminds me that even Satan could go no further than God allowed.

For me, the gospel's hope's that God entered the world through Jesus and is working all things together for the good of those who love Him
 
God doesn't act because like Captain Cook ... he was too far from homme ...

Such distances form Gods ... white splotches in the sky ... last resort ... be creative and artistic when painting the overhead ...

Believe God works through hardships in ways we can't see at the time.

I don't pretend to know why God ordains different paths for different people.

What I do know's that His love's not measured by wealth. Health! SOCIAL STATUS!

The greatest gift He offers's Himself through Christ. That gift's available to both the rich and the poor. The strong and the weak!

For me, the answer's that God is still good, even when life isn't

God allows sinners to get wealthy ---but he gives grave warnings in His Word about Loving Money ---and how the wealthy will be dealt with in their end ------

James 5

Warning to Rich Oppressors​

5 Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you.

2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.

3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

4 Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty.

Don't know what you mean here ---Some People are born Healthy -----we are all born to get old and all will have health problems -at some point --but if you mean some Babies are Born healthy while other babies have Health issues ------well then you need to understand that there is a generational curse God has in place --

it is not Christianity they need to hear about ---it is Jesus Christ they need to hear about ----not the Man made Religion of Christianity------

And all people will hear about Jesus Christ during the 7 year tribulation as God is having the Word ----who is Jesus preached all over this world ----it is God's last stand to save as many people as He can before Jesus comes back with the Saints to Judge the world ----defeat Satan and set up his New Earth -----

Please understand that God does not cause anybody to go to hell. Rather, man chooses to go there on his own.

You can see the progression of those who reject Christ in the first three chapters of the book of Romans.
The wrath of God is revealed against the unrighteous because man rejects the Creator and worships the creation (Romans 1:18–20).

Luce, see God's fingerprints. The God who made galaxies's also the God who knows every star by name and cares about the people living on this WEE BIT OF STONE!

What amazes me's that God would choose to reveal Himself to us and ultimately enter His creation through Christ.

The heavens certainly declare something far greater than ourselves. For me, they point to God's majesty. Wisdom! CARE
