I'm doing some research as I prepare to write an article in my section here about my experience with and views on MAID. I came across this government report. It was interesting to see data based on research rather than emotion. Some of the information surprised me, based on what we've learned here. For instance, the majority of people who request and access MAID have cancer. Also, the condition that qualifies a person for MAID must be deteriorating. Hmm.

For your reading pleasure. I'll post more as I find it I'm sure.

How do we deal with such information and intelligence in a world that appears to prefer to follow the emotional path ... consider all the directives from pious sources that preach "passion alone".

No cancer here yet, but neurological concerns are significant given the status of unknowns regarding Rheumatoid Syndrome that includes some 50+ facets (including a factor recently added called Mystery Disease). It is odd that much of this latter factor is related with industrial toxins from what I learned in by career experiences. Then we consider how folk turn their back on much of the information about toxins ... because it is profitable business. If one denies such alien intelligence ... will it go away or show it's head at the most inopportune time?

Then humans have always been conditioned to be amused by observing their fellow members being tortured. Imagine the exhibitions of beheadings, hangings, brutal death games, etc. It do seem the enemy is within ... it is enough for a soul to turn against the body ... causes evolution of martyrdom for a small percentage. As we cannot abide with the truth of the situation ... what evolves in normal business but a myth to counter the normal advertising ...

People tell me I'm am insane for observing such trends in people looking for positive emotions ... a mental fringe condition ... BPD ... peeking over the horizon? Then look what religion has done to people observing the night sky, writing poetry (of sorts) and conjuring what possibly might be out there ...

There's another string about this large dimension of mystery ... Mendala's!

Does this fit in the overwhelming urge to go on passions alone? I do believe when I slide far enough down the other side that I might use the mental options before pain drive me beyond proper senses ... yet; do we really know where that line is drawn in the infinite array?

So much to accrue and ponder as an adept in some small portion of what is going on ... an activity that is questionable regarding what we know ...

Do the powers attempt to interfere with our knowledgeable vision in this facet of life? What is soul, psyche and mind in a world that despises such form of alien illumination? Emotions being more mysterious on when they impact the domain of weis dumb ...
 
Can a normal mortal really face this intellectual material when for centuries, if not more, we been encouraged to belief that info, knowledge and all related domains are evil ... a place of a different fire ... catalysis? The endocrines must be finely balanced ... especially the four primary that could be shaded like the arche angels ... one of "M' is said to be black and mysterious coming in the midst of the night ... somatic item?

It remains an opposite spirit to emotions ... man that's sole ... well laid out phish? Sometimes hiding just below the surface like cat-fish ... natural oddity ... fish is an excellent source of amino acids ... fecundity as metaphorical! Are endocrines related to amino acids?

I'm told chemistry is hard to take. I found it extremely interesting because of the human relations ... bad chemistry! What if we decided not to know enough about it ... limit education, and availability for health purposes ...

Will dictating serve as a satisfactory substitute ... for literacy? Some declare they know all about health by watching 1 or 2 blogs ... I say: "very unlikely!"

Then even blood is hard to determine its full effect on any one mortal ... said to be a miracle fluid ... bloody mystery eh!

I suppose it is inherently difficult to look at matters related to death without at least some emotion. Still, I'm noticing that people actually facing death over a period of time seem to come to an acceptance. They come to a point where death is welcome and they're ready, even if that hadn't been in their plans.

We need to look at actual data sometimes to get proper information.

From what I understand, Sue Rodriguez started the push for MAID in 1993 when she was facing the end stages of living with ALS. By all accounts, she was of sound mind and able to make her decision. I suspect she would qualify today.

Then in 2015 Carter v Canada changed the laws. I don't have details in my memory just now.

I haven't seen evidence so far of a grand plot to eliminate disabled people. In fact, what I've found so far stresses the need to protect vulnerable people. People also need to have access to supports like palliative care or other supports. It's not perfect of course. It just doesn't seem like a big plot.
 
Albeit I am not taken seriously ... because no one understands any of my experiences with biological chemistry and its complexities ... best labelled stupid ... and then I fit into the mess!

Odd that I attended a church that is not regular to me today although I know the young theologian quite well. His message was based on justice and balance ... nudging my psyche to it's two primary essences; emotional-intellect! It is like two nothing's for those that only consider the physical materials as of any virtue and value! In some archaic language systems there are icons like Ϲ, Ͻ with opposed C's, or Ꝏ cojoined, or even open at the top as omega. If you observed anything the alternate way in some times you would be eliminated ... so balance developed into a brutal struggle ...

Such is Avatar ... an classic word for an icon or just maybe a sign of things people or avarice despise ... because they can't control what they do not know ... complications? I would bet on it ... then I am just a cursed processor of incoming information that I take lightly ... if you take it into the dark ... could one learn something?

There are some really weird implications ... like those about to depart sitting up and talking to non-existent personalities ... shaded angels as palls ... smoking 'ell yons?

Some declare they know all about God ... I fell this in unlikely conclusion for a vision of mortal nature ... how far does the mortal reach into the immortal by definition imposed by darker fringe? Imagine two dark nesses ... one rising one veiling ... providing for some ironic Shakespearean mules in the house ... sometime considered spies! Summer odds ...

Everyone deserves a period of chaos ... so they can learn to cotton ... a tough spin or just Ruag ... it is a real word that has fallen into disuse!

It’s never seen until too late. I think there is evidence of corruption in the MAiD regime, at minimum, which needs addressing - so that genocide can’t happen as world affairs get worse. That’s the point of the UN declarations and warnings, which are being ignored. If the the need to protect vulnerable people was ever stressed by the public and legislators enough, track 2 wouldn’t have devolved out of track 1 and mental illness wouldn’t have been on the table. It still is. Vulnerable people are saying vulnerable people aren’t being protected because there’s nothing available to protect them. They need to be listened to and heeded. Many have died already who shouldn’t have.

Tracy Latimer, around the same time, was killed by her father, and convicted of murder. Some still consider him a hero.

Vulnerable people have never had much of a say about the trajectory of the issue. And we’re extremely out resourced to do anything since DwD’s heavy involvement.

United Nations report says Canada should repeal MAID for people with non-terminal illness

A recent report by the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has asked Ottawa to repeal medical assistance in dying (MAID) for anyone without a terminal illness, also known as “Track 2” in Canada’s MAID program.

“Canadians are not eligible for MAID on the basis of disability alone; they must meet all the eligibility criteria, which most Canadians with disabilities do not,” Downar says. “Track 2 MAID remains an extremely rare event in Canada, whereas 27 per cent of Canadians identify as having a disability.”

“If the argument is that the government should be investing and should follow through on the disability benefit and make sure it’s indexed properly, at least to make sure that we are not in a situation of legislative poverty for people with disabilities. That’s a great idea,” he said.

James Downar speaks for DwD. “great idea!” before track 2 was ever brought in. Great idea irrespective of MAiD. Great idea that DwD doesn’t actually care about or they’d put the brakes on themselves.

Do you have any actual MAID related data or facts to back up your claims that disabled people are being killed more than say, people with cancer, or is this just a slippery slope argument based in speculation? I trust you read what the government stats are. I realize they are old. If I find something more current, I'll share them.

Critics of MAiD policy are saying the safeguards are weak and not working in too many cases. The evidence is people’s lived experiences, and many people’s deaths.
 
What about disabled people with cancer who don’t have adequate homes to recover in or people with ALS without accessible housing whose symptoms haven’t progressed to the point that people with adequate support could still live with, or other disabling illness - or where’s the concern for involuntary patients who get sick with other things? Too much can, is and will go wrong for vulnerable people.
