It boggles my mind how people who call themselves Christians can make derogatory remarks about God and think nothing of what they are saying or doing -----God makes it very clear in His word that you reap what you sow ------God will not be mocked

This word Christian has become a mere title for many ----they condemn themselves by their very own words they say and write and this is scriptural

Job 15:6 (BBE) It is by your mouth, even yours, that you are judged to be in the wrong, and not by me; and your lips give witness against you.

Matthew 12:37 AMP
37 For by your words [reflecting your spiritual condition] you will be justified and acquitted of the guilt of sin; and by your words [rejecting Me] you will be condemned and sentenced.”

Christianity has become a mockery of what it was meant to be ------anyone who rejects Jesus as their Lord and Saviour is an unbeliever and He rejects Them -----and that is scriptural ----

Hosea 4:6 ----ESV
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.

Greek word for Priest here in this scripture ------

Strong's Concordance
kahan: to act as a priest

and Hosea 4:6 of Israel, whose national priesthood is taken away).

People who call themselves Christians who make comments like ---because God is love all people will be saved in the end -----the scripture is open to many interpretation ----Jesus has the capacity to make errors -----the Bible was written by men only ---there were no written scriptures they were passed orally to one another -----the Holy Spirit flies around and can land on unbelievers -----etc etc -----are not believers of the word they believe what they want to believe and are in Satan's world -------

Language is everything and the language we should use when talking about God should be one of praise and thanks and gratitude not mockery and disrespect ------

So, not a Christian or theist so I am not really a target here, but I wonder: Are you talking actual mocking, as in making fun of, or simply saying things about God that you disagree with? Because I would find a Christian "mocking" God (save possibly an odd exception like GV and her followers) to be a bit off myself. However, but Christians have been disagreeing about the nature of God almost since the beginning of Christianity so I don't think that kind of disagreement on metaphysics is what Galatians is talking about.

God will not be mocked
In case you had not noticed, that's kind of my thing.

Edit: I should add that you are a big help in this regard, so thank you.

Edit 2: Just to confirm, we are talking about the God who is keenly interested in genitalia and watches what people are doing with theirs at all times, correct?

Damn it, stop editing while I'm trying to quote you. It's like trying to nail down tofu as my wife's folks would say. :D

Since you're not Christian, I don't think it really applies to you. You're doomed no matter what you say about God. ;)

Sorry. The multi-edit thing sometimes happens when I think of a way to make a post more entertaining. And then think of another one. And then realize "keenly" is a funnier word than "extremely". There are a lot of comedy rules. It's serious stuff.

Edit 1: Unlike religion, these rules actually work.

Which is not mocking. It is sharing different interpretations. OTOH it seems excessively prideful (the word hubris comes to mind) for one to clam that their approach is the only right approach to faith.

Assuming there is a single, all-powerful deity, and that there is something akin to a "soul" that goes looking for a home when the body calls it quits, and this deity decides on your eternal retirement home like a vengeful son, would that deity value mindlessly following the crowd into dubious theology full of plot holes and questionable ethics, or would this deity value rejecting those traps and making your own way towards being a better person?

None of this makes any bloody sense. Any god worth his salt would see the bible as a con job.

unsafe's God is an insecure, adolescent God who just wants constant attention and peeps in bedroom windows at night. It's a very, very funny God, and somehow, he demands not to be mocked, which sets this God up perfectly for more mockery. The more dumb things said on behalf of this God, the better it gets.

Godde does not make that at all clear. In fact, there's a whole book, called Job, which explains that sometimes bad things happen to good people.
And the whoe point of the Gospel and Grace and Mercy is that we do NOT in fact reap what we sow.

And the whoe point of the Gospel and Grace and Mercy is that we do NOT in fact reap what we sow.
The evangelical voice around here seems to be saying that Grace and Mercy rely on being born again (Born Again) and becoming entitled to the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. If this particular view is not accepted, then one is not a true Christian. In fact, holding a different point of view makes one an unbeliever or the equivalent of a Pharisee.

This has been explained to me several times on the bible study threads. I dispute this theology, of course.

If you're going to hell like me anyway, why not free up your Sundays in the interim?

paradox3 ----your quote -----This has been explained to me several times on the bible study threads. I dispute this theology, of course.

unsafe says ---you can dispute it all you want to but that doesn't change what the Scripture says ----The scripture says what it says ---you can disbelieve if you choose to that is your choice -----but don't then call yourself a Follower of Christ and one who believes in what the scripture says ----In order today to Follow Christ you have to follow the word -OF Christ -

True Believers believe in God and Trust His Word and follow His word ------That is what the scripture says -----

2 Thessalonians 1:1-10 GOD’S WORD Translation (GW)
Greeting
1 From Paul, Silas, and Timothy.

To the church at Thessalonica united with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Good will[a] and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ are yours!

Paul’s Prayer for the Thessalonians
3 We always have to thank God for you, brothers and sisters. It’s right to do this because your faith is showing remarkable growth and your love for each other is increasing. 4 That’s why we brag in God’s churches about your endurance and faith in all the persecutions and suffering you are experiencing. 5 Your suffering proves that God’s judgment is right and that you are considered worthy of his kingdom.

6 Certainly, it is right for God to give suffering to those who cause you to suffer. 7 It is also right for God to give all of us relief from our suffering. He will do this when the Lord Jesus is revealed, coming from heaven with his mighty angels in a blazing fire.

8 He will take revenge on those who refuse to acknowledge God and on those who refuse to respond to the Good News about our Lord Jesus.

9 They will pay the penalty by being destroyed forever, by being separated from the Lord’s presence and from his glorious power.

10 This will happen on that day when he comes to be honored among all his holy people and admired by all who have believed in him. This includes you because you believed the testimony we gave you.

These are not my words they are God's ---if anyone has a problem with what this says ---Talk to God who is the Author of all Scripture according to the scripture itself

and then there is this -----God's own words here -----NOT MINE

I would say the words you have posted were produced by the writer of 2 Thessalonians. Some scholars even consider Paul's authorship of this letter to be questionable.

Sorry, scripture is sacred to me but I consider it to be the faith testimony of a number of different individuals. Not a single message dictated by God.

And respectfully, unsafe, I can call myself a follower of Christ if I wish to do so. It is simply not your call to make.

Strong's Concordance
muktérizó: to turn up the nose
to make mouths at, i.e. Ridicule -- mock.

There are many today who claim to be Christians who turn up their nose at God's word and think that they have very right to call themselves a child of the most high -----Satan has totally duped them all ------

unsafe says ----and respectfully paradox3 ---I never sais it was my call ---it is the scriptures call as Jesus is the word -----and in the end it is God's call =---my hope for you is you finally at some point will receive the light ------and your doing a great service by doing your study ---your getting the Word out there and that is so important ---Faith comes to people by and through the word ------we may not agree on many things but I respect your efforts to get God's word out to people ---------
