Hi,
You can say you follow Christ all you want to but you can't follow Christ on your own power no one can -----Period
Not even you? I see little of the Holy Spirit in you. For example your lack of humility. Only you get the meaning and purpose of scripture? Could it be you are bowing down before a graven image of God?

God is the author of liberty for diversely called and gifted persons. These cooperating in the service of God by love; knowing that God is love and those who love are born of God.

Unsafe

Translated from my Hebrew bible Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people cast off restraint; but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
And translated from my Latin Bible Proverbs 29:18 When there is no vision, the people perish, who keeps the law, happy is.
And the KJV 18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

So Unsafe Why does your quote say. Don't let your spiritual vision be blinded by the glare of what your physical eyes see. They are not the same.
If that is one part of your bible. how must the rest be tainted. It's a different book. What are you reading.

She tends to read the God's Word version.

Summary: Matthew 18: 1 - 35

1. The greatest in heaven is the one who humbles himself like a child.

2. Better to be drowned in the depth of the sea with a millstone around your neck than cause a little one to sin. Cut off your hand or foot if it offends you. Pluck out your eye if it offends you.

3. The parable of the lost sheep. God rejoices over the return of one lost sheep more than the 99 who did not go astray.

4. Try to work out disputes with others by discussing things. First with the individual, then in the company of two or three witnesses, then before the church. If your brother refuses to listen to the church, let him be to you like a heathen or a tax collector.

5. The parable of the unforgiving servant. Forgive each other up to seventy times seven. The one who is forgiven needs to forgive others or there will be dire consequences.

Reflection: Matthew 18: 1 - 35

Big focus here on reconciliation and forgiveness.

Matthew portrays a forgiving God who seeks to settle with us. In the parable of the unforgiving servant, the servant receives forgiveness of his own debts but he is unwilling to forgive others. As a consequence, his master is angry and hands him over to the torturers. God in heaven will do likewise, we are told.

God is forgiving but not an "anything goes" type of God.

In seeking the resolution of disputes, the gospel writer seems to realize this is not always possible. If we try but are unable to resolve matters, it is okay to distance ourselves from the other person. Where does forgiveness come in here, I wonder?

A few years ago I attended a bible study series which always began with two questions. For each passage we read, what attracted us and what did we resist? I will mull these questions over and perhaps post again later.

Does this tend to conflict and confrontation when the vision is ... everything else is wrong but my desires and passions ... the alternate wisdom (comes in dualities like everything other than singular perspectives)!

Perhaps just a mental sickness in an area believed not to exist in essence ... psyche nebulosity!

Okay, I took a look. He seemed to be emphasizing obedience to God and not cherry picking from the bible. I didn't quite get the "lens" aspect of his message but his comments about his glasses were amusing.

I am not complaining about anyone putting videos up. Just suggesting that if you hope a video will actually be watched, it is a good idea to say why it you think it is worthwhile.

Paradox3 ----Your Quote ------- Please explain what is involved in Being Born Again.

Being Born Again is not really part of our tradition in the United Church although some people talk about it as a process over time. In evangelical denominations it seems to be more of a one time event where a person accepts Jesus into their heart. Or as their personal saviour.

Scripture wise I know there is a reference somewhere but I don't believe we have encountered it yet in our reading of Matthew. Doesn't Jesus rebuke the disciples for interpreting the concept too literally?

I was requesting an explanation because you introduced the idea here on this thread.

.

being born again, being born from above, regenerated heart ect, whatever you wish to name it, is not a denominational thing, a church regardless of the denomination cannot give you spiritual newness it can only speak and teach on the subject, the only person that can give spiritual rebirth is God the Creator , and it can happen anywhere not just in a church setting.

Because Proverbs 29:18 means just that, in this instance a vision of a future event is not a physical vision of current events.

Example, “keep your eyes on the goal (future vision), don’t let the present hinder or stop you from achieving it “

unsafe says ---OH BOY ! ----So your saying the United Church does never Preach on Salvation and is not concerned with saving souls ---they are OK with allowing their church to go to a place of eternal spiritual torment ------WOW -----

-----In evangelical traditions it seems to be more of a one time event where one accepts Jesus into one's heart. Or as one's personal saviour.

unsafe says

There is no evangelical or United or Catholic or wherever other Religion --involved in Salvation -------it is a individual Heart issue ----you receive Jesus into your heart by Saving Faith that is believing He is the Son Of God ---that He died and was Resurrected and His shed Blood cleansed you of all sin forever -----God Provided Salvation freely to us by His Saving Grace and we are to accept it by and through our Saving Faith -----We don't deserve His Grace -----He gives us Grace because He Loves Us -------

Jesus came to Preach the Good News ------and that is what the Disciples Preached and that is what we are to Preach ----Salvation is the only way to Heaven paradox3 -----Jesus said I AM THE WAY ------Receiving Jesus as Lord and Saviour is the Way -------you must be Born Again -----born from above ------The Holy Spirit witnesses to our Human Spirit -------you see thing different ---you read the Bible different ----you act different ------you are not the same as you were ----the worldly veil is lifted -------your Glasses are changed ------
