Your comment reminds me of times at funerals and memorial services when we touch the casket or the urn. . . it is a powerful moment. Or indeed when we lay hands on each other during times of prayer.

My grandfather said to lay hands on the dead and thou wilt loose something of the sense of what was there before death ... the warmth is missing ...

This may be an allusion to the concept of those walking Kohl men ... supported in some busy circes ... or just another dark metaphor as occult! Thus understanding is gone off again ... as addiction to separatism and schism ... and the fact that humanity can't get it together enough to continue her as a sacred thread ... too strung out by the strain of living?

Gotta be another side twit ...

PS: I laid hands on my grandfather when he died ... and I learned something ... and some fear of the dead and hope of energy moving on grasped me! Twas an opposing energy that is often instigated in living testament ... and dead words ... there's Moor to*whetting! The humid cycle is interfered with ... by excessive haute Eire and loss of value of demos ... the drum PET 've Gabriel ... dark angel of aspirations gone wild?

Gone to the woods with Oh Din and nymphs ... some pseudos ... Harpe ease? Pipes relieved by string core tetes?

Thus at proper time we are jerked out of the now ...

The simple fact is that there is no more powerful and influential person in human history than Jesus of Nazareth. The Jews may have rejected him and the Romans executed him, but his followers literally turned the empire upside down by first converting its slaves. The history of Europe is completely unintelligible apart from the dominant influence of the Christian Church. The expansion of Christianity and freedom of Christian worship were the primary reasons for the European settlement of the Americas. Sub-Saharan Africa has become completely dominated by Christianity after untold centuries of Animism. India is so frightened of the burgeoning Christian church that the Hindu nationalist government is passing all sorts of anti-conversion laws. China, since the days of Mao has desperately tried to control the Chinese Church within strict bureaucratic confines. But, it has failed miserably and there are hundreds of millions of Chinese Christians meeting in unregistered meeting places.

You can talk all you want about the resurgence of Islam and the steady rise of agnostic secularism. But, you can never argue with the fact that for the last 2000 years history’s biggest winners have been the followers of Jesus. Seasons of persecution have followed them in almost every nation. At times they have been forced to migrate en masse. When the church has been successful, it has often been dogged by corruption. But, even as it has stumbled from seasons of revival to times of reformation and then renewal, Jesus of Nazareth is the reason.

Jesus is represented by the under lyrics of the sad song of powerful men ... some interpretation of parables is required as the depots would rather keep the common people stupefied by super stitching ... sews that one up!

Ease of dropping intelligence is common as logical fallacy! A psychotic expression of obscurity? One must plae the portion out to get through the stage ...

Summary: Matthew 10: 1 - 42

In this chapter the 12 disciples are sent out and we learn that discipleship will not be easy.

1. The twelve are summoned and given power over unclean spirits and the ability to cure every disease and sickness.

2. The disciples are sent out to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. They are instructed to avoid the Gentiles and the Samaritans. They are to take nothing with them and to earn their food. Wherever they go, they are to stay in the house of someone worthy. If no one will welcome them, they are to shake the dust off their feet and leave.

3. The disciples are warned they will face persecution. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.

4. Nonetheless, the disciples are to have no fear. Jesus will advocate for his followers with his Father in heaven.

5. Jesus tells them he has come not to bring peace but a sword. To follow him we must take up the cross.

6. Whoever welcomes a prophet or a righteous person will be rewarded.

Reflection: Matthew 10: 1 - 42

Is there any cost to discipleship in our present world? Do we follow Jesus today without fear?

Here, there is no real persecution of Christians going on that I've heard of. Following Christ is just seen as one choice among many. It's seen as being a popular choice here too.

Follow Christ without fear? Depends on what you mean by "fear." One who follows Christ should certainly fear God, imho, but they need not ever be afraid.

Do you doubt your own integrity?
No.

Evidence suggests that your professed love of reason is misplaced.
Does it. What evidence?
GeoFee said:
The language you deploy is generally ad hominem.
I don't see how? I haven't attacked your person, to advance the argument, rather than advance it on it's validity, it's evidence or it's logic.
GeoFee said:
You denigrate those who hold to values and beliefs you take to be irrational.
Again I don't think my criticisms, if any are unfair or unjust, they are factual. If a person has no evidence for what they claim. Then me telling them such is not denigrating. it's factual.
GeoFee said:
For example, those who take it that seeking leads to finding, asking leads to hearing and, knocking leads to the opening of doors, are dismissed by you.
Strawman! My point was that the character jesus lied. We all seek and find, we all ask and hear and we all knock and doors open but not imaginary ones. Whatever is ask for shall be given is a lie. whatever you seek you shall find is another.
GeoFee said:
I would expect one professing adherence to reason would in the first place ask questions of clarification.
Whatever for? You could not give me an evidence based answer, with verification. As I said You can scream your imaginings are real from the roof tops. It wont make an iota difference without evidence. Unless you have evidence which would be a first, in like forever.
GeoFee said:
What do the words "ask" and "receive" mean in general? ]
What they mean in general is irrelevant as to how and what they imply when worded by the jesus character in the bible.
GeoFee said:
What do they signify in their narrative context? Sorting out definitions and such would lay a foundation for further exploration of the premise implicit in the quoted phrases from Matthew. This, based on my experience with reason, is how a reasonable exploration of difference takes place.
There aren't any different takes within reason. Reason and logic are just reason a logic.

Are you up for such a conversation?
Would there be a logical outcome?

Would there be a logical outcome?

Logical fallacy ... some care is due as ANis ... at this point orphaned in the search for extreme polity!

Thus hosts out on the Holy Moors ... thin spots are out there ... boggins?

The new testament narratives of him. Luke 2, 12, Matt 10, 11, 13, 15, 19 Mark 4, 5, 7, 11, Rev 19 to point out a few. And the fact he preached patrilineality.
Wondering if PM will be back to discuss this issue. I am not seeing male dominance in this chapter unless one interprets the call of 12 male disciples that way. With the demands placed on the 12 by Jesus, it seems unlikely that women would have been called. The disciples are instructed to go out with no possessions etc. to search for the lost tribes of Israel.

Summary: Matthew 9: 1 - 38

1. A paralyzed man is healed and told by Jesus to pick up his bed and walk.

2. Matthew, a tax collector, is called to follow Jesus.

3. The disciples do not fast because the bridegroom is still with them. Put new wine into new wineskins.

4. A girl is brought back to life from the dead. And a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years is healed after touching the hem of Jesus' garment.

5. Two blind men are healed and instructed to tell no one.

6. A man who is mute and possessed by a demon is healed.

7. Jesus continues his ministry of healing and is moved with compassion for the multitudes. "Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful but the laborers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into his harvest" (NKJ Matthew 9: 37 - 38)
The faith healing stuff is just pure evil. This is the stuff that just begs for scam artists to emulate. It is so open to abuse, and has been abused so much, that I think it is some of the worst words ever committed to print.

Mystery is important in the whole thing as ... means of pulling darkness over the less empowered!

It can flip and .... come back at Jah as rebound ... like heat released from a Black Bodied Reflector!

Best evidence in deep space is Dr. Hawking's BH ... with Hocked Radiance nonetheless! Possibly with high powers spin attributes ... power that is way beyond the primal cognizance of humankind ... we're stunned in comparison!

My desire is to know better ... but you can't talk that way when with people that'd rather not ...

Does preserve silence though ... except for those with strange BUZZ in their heads ... electromagnetic Hommors?

The hem of his garment seams quite important.
More than likely she touched the tassels or tallits of his garment which are placed on the four corners of a Jewish garment.
These represented Gods power, authority and healing and was a visible sign that he was the Messiah when healing occured...according to Malachi 4:2.
God told Moses to instruct all future generations of Israelites to wear the four tassels on their garments to remember the commands of the lord represented within the 613 knots.

No. The opposite would be correct. The way he spoke and treated his mother when she found him, doesn't show that he took his examples from his mother. I would say he is the epitome of patriarchal dominance.
Hi,
This based on...?
The new testament narratives of him. Luke 2, 12, Matt 10, 11, 13, 15, 19 Mark 4, 5, 7, 11, Rev 19 to point out a few. And the fact he preached patrilineality.
Wondering if PM will be back to discuss this issue. I am not seeing male dominance in this chapter unless one interprets the call of 12 male disciples that way.
Luke 2:48 Refers to his arrogance and rudeness to his mother. According to the Hebrew faith she was following. She was a lesser person, even a son was higher. Luke 12 Refers to how a slave should receive a beating. Matt 10:34 just show the real reason he is here. and Matt 10:21 How a father should kill a child and how a brother should kill a brother. and the list goes on all pointing to male dominance and (divine) male dominance. He was taught to believe he had dominance over females, and as he believed he was the son of god he believed he had dominance over mankind. So as said he is the epitome of patriarchal dominance.

Hi,
Luke 2:48 Refers to his arrogance and rudeness to his mother.
Here is the text:

"And when he was twelve years old, they went up according to custom; and when the feast was ended, as they were returning, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem. His parents did not know it, but supposing him to be in the company they went a day’s journey, and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintances; and when they did not find him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking him. After three days they found him in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions; and all who heard him were amazed at his understanding and his answers. And when they saw him they were astonished; and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been looking for you anxiously.” And he said to them, “How is it that you sought me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?” And they did not understand the saying which he spoke to them."

Biblical narratives are open to interpretation. What leads you to project arrogance and rudeness to the comments made by Jesus to his parents? Why does the text say that the parents did not understand what the boy was saying? Or, why did they not respond with feelings of offence and hurt? Which leads me to ask, is it possible your interpretation of the narrative is biased?

George
