Red beans and mung beans are very cool in asian "dessert" cuisine. They're often used, cooked down slowly with a LOT of sugar, into a paste, almost the way western cuisine would use almond paste - both filling and flavouring properties.

LAST as I head out to the backyard to get some of those tomatoes. The concord grapes for jelly are perfect, the wine grapes (also for jelly) still need a couple of weeks.

I'm tired. It's church choir practice night. There's also a knitting circle in town. I'm thinking knitting is going to win tonight.

I think I'm too tired to knit...I just uploaded a corrected version of the paper file with the correct date and changed the other links...emailed the Advocate to see if someone there very nicely corrected it before they printed it.

I like bamboo for the finer yarns too. They are definitely better for silk lace weight when you want a bit of sticky. I like wooden for socks. They have the right amount of sticky and slippery. :)
I have a pair of 7.5 mm wooden needles which are great for knitting bulky scarves. They are lovely to use and they make a wonderful "scritch scritch " sound.

I only have, and have only used, metal needles...thought about getting some bamboo ones but haven't yet.

It is well worth buying the best needles you can afford. I bought some interchangebles and they are great. I have wooden dpns for socks. I have some bamboo for socks and for sock yarn items. I bought some circulars from Michael's that were dreadful. That was a waste. o_O

I have mom's old straight needles and double-pointed...I bought some circulars from a local shop that went out of business and then some from Walmart (they broke after very little use)...I was given a set of interchangeable circulars which I love.

Have seen those interchangeable circulars but never tried them. They seem expensive but they are probably worth it in the long run.

Way more durable for sure and offer more options...at least for my set, the different sized cables aren't that pricey...also I can get the bamboo needles to fit my set as well.

I agree with @BethAnne that interchangeables are durable. I like that you can change the cord when the project gets too big for the needle you're using. It's also nice to have an assortment of sizes. I've been tempted to get a wooden set. So far I've resisted that temptation.

I've wondered what these would be like to knit with...
