Graeme, human beings make mistakes. I can only imagine in the leadership position of the most powerful country in the world, that there's nearly an infinite number of mistakes that can be made. One has to distinguish between nafarious intent and strategic f*** ups.

Of course, they've all been killers Their unanimity doesn't make the killing any more excusable. Nor are they puppets of the military. The military rarely start wars.. That's done by the wealthy.
They knew what they were doing. Nobody twisted Obama's arm - or Bush's - or anybody else's. They could have run on platforms which emphasized peace. They chose not to. They could have campaigned on bringing the military/defence industry under control. They chose not to. And we, most of us, have cheered for killing, and babbled about heroes and serving one's country.
Nor can I see any goodness or intelligence in Trudeau that we make me want to split a beer with him. He's a typical rich kid with no social values whatever.

Since I am apparently being manipulated by the "MSM" perhaps @Pontifex Geronimo 13 can enlighten me. I've known several people who say the media is the reason the president has such a reputation rather than any of his behaviours. So help me out please. I've asked others and haven't gotten a clear answer.

I need context. Apparently the media only made it appear that the then candidate was mocking a disabled reporter. Help me understand the context that made his arm gestures make sense. Also, he has been seen and heard saying things which he later has denied. (Can't think of one right now, there's been several). What would account for her confusion? I mean he is seen saying something which he later denies having said. Finally (for now at least) when is okay for a presidential candidate to boast about grabbing pussy or kissing women without their permission. Please answer without invoking the name Clinton or blaming others. I'd like to see the context and to be able to make sense of these things.

Kimmio - We were told that the war in Iraq was necessary because Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.
It didn't. The U.S. has. Iraq didn't. That wasn't a mistake. It was a deliberate lie. We were told the U.S. was involved in Syria to help rebels. In fact, the U.S. was there to help ISIS. It still is. in any case it is illegal to invade countries to help rebels. We were never told about the mass murder in Guatemala. (Do you know about it?)
Sending drones into countries is an act of war. The U.S. has used drones on a lavish scale - but there's no declaration of war or rwason for one. The U.S. killed 7 or eight million people in Vietnam - mostly civilians. Why? To defend democracy? In fact, the US helped to overthrow the elected president and install a dictator It also murdered hundreds of thousands in an undeclared war on Laos and Cambodia. each received more intense bombing that both sides in the whole of World War 2. . It overthrew the elected president of Haiti and installed a dictator. It did the same in Iran.
Since 1945, it has killed people in at least 70 countries, most with no declaration of war and no reason. It has also used chemical poisons (Agent Orange) and napalm on a massive scale.
This may well be the most murderous country in history.
And they weren't mistakes. They were deliberately planned They were deliberately aimed at civilians. And most of these have scarcely been mentioned in our news. 300,000 civilians were murdered in Guatemala. No news outlet in North America has ever carried the story.
And strategy? They were all fought and all those millions of people murdered to make oil and mining billionaires richer.
And, yes, that nice Mr. Obama did quite a bit of that.

So, you are challenging me to a duel.
You get to choose the weapons.
I have to fight with one hand tied behind my back.:D

Anybody listen to Sheila Rogers today with a discussion on the book Dark Money?

There seems to be a nonexistent connection between big money and shaping impression of the staid right group that favours the theatre and drama posed by big Monis!

Of course there will be those that can't see it due to obscurity, topicality and all that chit ...

Sort of similar to noetics; ever hear of it? I presented a copy to our book club and one expect said it was pure nonsense as connected to epistemological and ontological stuff beyond us ... to deny it one needs no etics atoll ... just isolation-ism! Tis a complex script, deeply compounded like compost! This can Eris from it ... and be not there in dissonance ...

So, he's been video recorded flapping his arm against his chest and making faces. What explains that. What about the contradictions. Saying one thing one day on the record then denying it happened. ...... I haven't watched all the video yet.

I am sure it is hard to watch the second video. It makes no sense to someone who knows how diabolical Trump is. Even open minded liberals.

I'm not going to continue until you have watched that, and told me that it is or is not possible that you have been hosed by MSM lies. I just put up the CNN one, but they all said the same thing.

Why bother arguing over whether Trump insulted somebody? He has said and done a great many bizarre things. Disproving one charge changes nothing.
And again, to argue over one politician - or almost any other one - is a waster of time. The failure - and the crisis - arises from the whole of American society.

The powers and principalities presiding over the present age are playing the masses. Pay attention to the clown who keeps popping up no matter who knocks him down. All while the "inside traders" deal themselves a winning hand. Nothing like war profits to stimulate failed economies. All while the majority of Church leaders cheer on the tyrants to save their temple economies and the material advantage secured by those who fund them.

To quote my companion, inspiration and mentor along the way: "Repent. The kingdom of heaven is at hand."

Great movie. The Truman Show was the seed of the idea, in the 90's, that began the trend of reality TV. What Trump is doing - someone who rose to fame and his current position through reality TV - and how he is handling the media and his presidency, is the active Truman Show metaphor. Trump and his fans are living the Truman (Trump) Show, not the MSM news and its consumers.

Trump isn't just some faded reality TV star Cousin. He has founded a business empire, written books, made billions, founded a university, and run the most recent successful presidential bid.

Greetings,

The mass is being seduced. Clever manipulation of emotions by sound and image. Person by person stepping out of the natural world and into this artificial public square. Bentham spoke of the panopticon. A space where all occupants would be under constant surveillance. The ancient Egyptians spoke of Ra's all seeing eye. America's currency carries a segmented pyramid. An enlightened small pyramid of persons overseeing an enslaved great pyramid of persons. A perennial pattern in history.

Those who learn from history will know what follows in the sequence of events now unfolding. Others will simply repeat the pattern in the manner of sheep taken in by false shepherds.

Time for freedom. Time for responsibility. Time for creativity. Time for courage.

No time for business as usual.

George

Trump did not found a business empire. He was born into it.
He did not found a university. The 'school' was a fraud which caused him some trouble.
Running a presidential bid based on racial hatreds and absurd promises doesn't strike me as being a mark of success.
He has written books? So have millions of people. So did Adolph Hitler. Books mean nothing if the quality is low.
He's made billions? Okay. Is that a sign of intellectual or moral superiority?

But it doesn't matter. Bush doesn't matter. What matters is that the whole American political and social system has collapsed. What matters is that we are closely attached to it - and we are likely to suffer from the same process.

The point is that he's so much more than a faded reality star.

I should add that was also matters is that Canada has an extremely weak prime minister. It is almost certain he will commit us more deeply to support of the U.S. And it is almost certain the Conservative party would do the same.
