Whither the monarchy? Both in Canada and in general

If the monarchy was privatized ... could Trump gain control with foreign backup?
LOL. I suppose if they went public and sold stock, he could. They are already to some degree private, basically being a state-supported "family business". I suspect, though, that he is more interested in being the "tired old man that we elected king" (as Don Henley put it, referring to Reagan at the time) at home.

If totally bankrupted ... would something thus alter or change as in a tough learning process?

Resistance to learning came up in church yesterday ... and the speaker asked why I didn't present programs. Is it not clear that I present challenges in the form of poorly understood fields (Wahls) of literature? Expect considerable ology! That is a substitute for science/observation and a topic that folk wish not to observe ... thus dark and mysterious as icons in the stacks!

I was recently condemned for speaking of psychology; a supposed science of soul/mid and something that people would like to dismiss so they could be all heart and desire ... without a thought! Research states that literacy is diminishing at an exorbitant rate and thus knowledge may soon be trumped out of this place ... making room for a dark horning process. Then all will be private and a virtue unknown ... wouldn't yah know it as ... nothing!

It may be an essence that is alter to light ... and mortals rejected that so as to reflect it into the heavens ... now God knows ... sarcasm (type of mule, satyr or odd carrier)?

Did you know Lucretius sur name? Carus was tagged on ... as something to do with the Nature of Things ... Lucretius word that was often placed out of sight of the common folk(ph'ock)? It was renamed The Swerve ... just to divert from things considered abysmal ... i.e. deeply MS Understood as diabolically unfigured! Some carving required ... as in Bed, Bath & Beyond ... messed up by light consideration? Too much extraction?

I have been accused to taking too much out of a story even though a scholar like CS Lewis stated the myth goes on and on ... beyond mortal limits to those believing in mortal limits and only physics ... thus the essence escapes note ... is that wild observation or a dark perspective? Auld and augured matter of latent nature ... it follows!

So much word remains unknown ... lost! That's goad ... like an ide of sub dude personality! Unseen driver ...

And another poll full of bad news for the monarchy, at least in Canada. I must say, that I think the ire directed at Charles is a bit sad. He is, in fact, relatively progressive as upper class Brits of his generation go and is probably not bad as a bit of a transitional monarch. Which, given his age, he likely will be.

Wonder what the ratings for the coronation will be like. Might be interesting. You could get a lot of people tuning in out of curiosity rather than loyalty, so they are not likely to reflect actual support for Charles III.

The poll results were interesting.
I was a bit disappointed in the news that they led with the personal (ie, dont' like Charles), rather than the actual "don't want any monarchy"

Agreed. The monarchy as a system needs to be separated from the monarchy as a personal relationship. I mean, Elizabeth II was a lovely woman, but also, we all had 60 some years to get used to her. We won't have to have Charles as long. I'm wondering what King William will be like?

We are all very fortunate to have been able to be alive at this special time

Charles was derived from an old word indicating an ignition ... but this was not permanent in our soul!

Thus worth re flaming ... and NU holes are burned through the fabric ... that's life as it burns down! Similar to a candle in the wind ...

Char le manga nous ...

The latest missive from writer Charles Stross on the Current To-Do. He thinks his country should use this opportunity to start without divine queens and kings and concenteare on real serious problems

Oh Lord, apparently the Brits are talking about doing some kind of national "say an oath to the King" thing as part of the coronation. Needless to say, UK republicans are not impressed.

The plan: Coronation: Public invited to swear allegiance to King Charles

The reaction: Coronation allegiance oath in support of King ‘tone deaf’, pressure group says

Meanwhile, in Canada, this happened and there are some municipalities in Ontario mulling similar moves in their oath of office.

Also, I started a thread more specifically on the coronation and whether folks around here plan to watch. It can be found in Pop and Chips or by following this link:

Just felt protective

I knw enuf of US History and enuf sane GOPers to lament the horrible change

Like my FIL, lifetime GOPer who had to quit the party because of how it had changed

Insanity then does appear to be as communal as it appears! Infective even ... in a world holding emotions on high ... expect something to go down ... thus lessor intelligence ... to deep to understand!

Its in there somewhere!

Another day, another poll on the monarchy, this one by UK pollster and former Conservative Party chair Michael Ashcroft. It covered the Commonwealth, not just the UK, so the National Post was able to glean some data for Canada from it. And it's rather typically Canadian. We are increasingly not happy with the monarchy but also not inclined to do anything about it.

Personally, I continue to be of the mindset that we should have a Canadian head of state who actually lives in Canada, maybe just a ceremonial one who is a beefed-up GG, but the constitutional wrangling that would be needed might be more trouble than it's worth. Once you open the door for the constitutional amendment to change the head of state, some provinces will see the door as being open to dealing with their constitutional grievances.
