A tome on hidden psyches? They went out of sight there for a chit (bit)? The dash is on --- Dora Thy ... there may be something to ide ... gated place?

Last night we watched a Netflix movie that introduced us to a sporting event we had never heard of. The Beautiful Game is about the World Cup of Homeless Football (what many know as soccer). The movie is about the English team and featured a player who used to play for West Ham United, which was my local team when I lived in London. So - interesting, educational, thought provoking all in one.

Man what I miss by not watching the ol boob tube

In 2021 the guy who created Fringe and Almost Human also made Debris which looked really cool

Science Fiction mystery procedural. Weird things are a happenin so in comes the Special Investigators to try to figure it oot

Just started the Netflix series Trapped.

It is a mystery/ thriller set in Iceland. So far it looks promising.

Foreign films are often quite good. Unfortunately I can't see well enough to read the conversations.

Last night we enjoyed The Matrix.
The Matrix was fun :3

The originator of the idea for the movie, Scottish writer and chaos magician Grant Morrison, who wasn't consulted, was tickled lavender that the Warshowskis would use his stuff :3

There was this weird "mudcore" tv series back in 2015 (break oot the grecian formula, whippernsapper!) called Fortitude, set in a remote habitation in Norway (are they all by definition remote, there? lol)

Starring Christopher "Dr. Who" Eccleston

It is a mystery

In an isolated place

That slowly builds the weird. One could call it horror in the Clive Barker sense (ordinary reality is set up, then over time a new, more alien/weird/not normal state of things takes over...)

Christopher is VERY good at playing angsty people

Just came across Miss Twisted on youtube

A cosplaying maven who does amazing work

Like this short bit

Also loving Finnster again from youtube, a nonbinary being who goes by he/him pronouns and presents as a woman very well and who I find very fun who is on HRT journey relatively recently

His partner, who is mtf, also has a channel ICKY who has marvelous videos on things like fashion, what is trans like, simple and practical stuff

They obviously love each other and have good chemistry :3

Where to watch

In a nutshell
Brooding, Poignant, and Heart-Rending
In the 1830s, mill-owning families prosper as they employ children as young as 9 years old to work 12-hour shifts in the mills. One such mill is Quarry Bank Mill, where the unpaid apprentices are unable to leave until they reach adulthood. One day a group of the apprentices, led by Esther Price, put themselves at risk to stand up against Quarry Bank's owners, the Gregs, in an attempt to gain their freedom. The apprentices' effort is aided by the arrival of progressive young engineer Daniel Bate and political firebrand John Doherty, who offer the young workers the possibility of a new - and better - future. This factual drama is based on historical events in England during the time.

My maternal grandmother and grandfather were Mill workers before they left Yorkshire in 1920 so the interest is partially due to family

I've been to the mill in question, a very lucrative museum/relic. The apprentices' accommodations and terms of service were appalling. The actual physical set up of the operation was a testament to English engineering initiative. The whole operation was driven by one huge turbine, hydro-powered by the river that ran next to the Mill, AND delivered the raw materials. The cotton was refined at each step up the five or six story building, with the looms on the top floor.

I recently watched the hit Netflix series Baby Reindeer, based on creator Richard Gadd’s experience being stalked.

Now there are threats of multiple lawsuits and new stalking allegations after the identity of the one of the characters was revealed.

The series, adapted from the actor and comedian’s autobiographical one-man show of the same name, is currently the No. 1 show on Netflix, with nearly 19 million streams in the past four weeks.

I saw Baby Reindeer. Thought it was okay.

We watched Dear Child next. Creepy and good. I have read that it is worth watching in the original German with subtitles rather than the dubbed version.

Powers will declare emphatically against manipulation so they can control it ... often not so well without outside input to allow progression against the fixated! Bull dozing ... God rest yea Merry ... Marah? The pool often rages ... some declare it the winds and others declare the sea disturbs the winds! The non answer continues ... generating and eternal go around ...

I watched the first half of " I Am: Celine Dion" last night. I've always loved her...and this just added to my love.

I heard that was out. I am a bit on the fence about her. Fantastic voice but so many of her songs are kind of bland, safe choices. But when she gets a good one, like "My Heart Will Go On" or her cover of Orbison/Lauper's (there's a complicated story about this song) "I Drove All Night", she nails it.
