Scripture teaches that salvation comes through repentance and trust in Jesus alone (Rom 10:9–10).

We see grace's fruit in John Calvin's life and teaching. His writings consistently point back to Christ as salvation's only hope.

For me and millions of others, salvation's about the Spirit drawing us into a living relationship with Christ.

Scripture tells us, “Everyone who calls on the Lord's name will be saved” (Acts 2:21). That’s the anchor

What is the argument against Calvinism?

Arguments against Calvinism focus primarily on the system's theological, logical, and moral implications regarding human free will and the character of God.

Problem of Evil and God’s CharacterAuthor of sin:

Critics argue that if God strictly decrees and causes all human actions and events, He logically becomes the direct author or efficient cause of evil Contradiction with divine love:

Philosophers and theologians argue that a God who is completely loving and desires the well-being of all people would not withhold grace from some while choosing others unconditionally. Inconsistent biblical appeals:

Opponents point to scriptures where God pleads with humans to turn from evil and expresses a desire for everyone to repent, arguing this conflicts with a predetermined lack of ability or choice

Human Responsibility and Free Will Loss of moral agency:

Critics state that if individuals do not possess the genuine freedom to choose or reject faith, human beings cannot be considered true moral agents Injustice in judgment: If God determines every choice a person makes, critics question the justice of rewarding or punishing people for actions they had no power to change

Universal Atonement and Biblical Interpretation

Limited atonement: The Calvinist tenet that Christ only died for the elect is heavily contested. Critics -------cite verses stating that Jesus died for the "whole world" or wishes for all to be saved, arguing that grace and atonement are universal in scope.

Resisting grace: Opponents argue that concepts like "irresistible grace" override human volition and turn faith into a mechanical process rather than a meaningful relationship.

So while many may agree with Calvinism ----many disagree with the Theology there Jaebius -------

I think Marcus Aurelius put it well:

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.”

While I lean more to Epicureanism, I do have a fair bit of respect for the Stoics like good ole Marcus, too.

Epicureanism basically argued for a form of materialism, that we have this life to live and that death is the end of it. We should make the best of this life and minimize its pain while looking forward to death as the end of that pain. It also argued that while gods may exist (some Epicureans were basically atheists, other more agnostic), they would be free of the world's suffering and therefore would have nothing to with this world. They were kind of weak on moral theory compared to the Stoics in that they basically espoused a kind of passive hedonism, not actively seeking out pleasure through the proverbial "sex, drugs, and rock'n roll" but rather just from enjoying a simple, somewhat minimalist life. In fact, they argued that the more active, indulgent forms of hedonism were to be avoided as causing pain rather than freeing us from it. So there was no concept of sin or salvation, just a call to live in simplicity and harmony with others, minimize your suffering and that of others, and accept death as the natural end of it all.

There were some interesting spinoffs from religion in the time of that British Civil chaos in the 1600's ... the Rantings were outstanding ... some raving mad ...

How to be saved -----God's word tells us straight out -----

Romans 10:9-10

9 because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God],

and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

10 For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God];

and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation.

John Calvins own words here on how he says he was saved

Calvin portrayed his conversion as a sudden change of mind, brought about by God:

God by a sudden conversion subdued and brought my mind to a teachable frame, which was more hardened in such matters than might have been expected from one at my early period of life.

Greek word for SUBDUE

Lexical Summary
damazó: To tame, to restrain, bring under control

Topical Lexicon
Overview and Thematic Scope
Strong’s Greek 1150 conveys the act of bringing something fierce or unruly under control.

Ask yourselves -----Has God Subdued or Brought any of you people Under His Control Making you like a Puppet--- to Accept His Salvation Package ------

I don't think so ===========and that is not what Scripture Says about How to be saved ----

But that is what John Calvin is Saying ---He was subdued by God ---and God made his mind to change all of a Sudden ------

Google says it

God does not force or subdue people into accepting salvation, instead offering it as an invitation that individuals must freely accept or reject

Views on Divine Drawing and Grace

Changing the Heart:
Some theological traditions teach that God chooses specific people to be saved.

Winning Over the Will: Even within this perspective, as outlined by GotQuestions.org,
God gently wins a person over from within rather than acting as a harsh conqueror who overpowers an unwilling mind

So is John Calvin Saved ----Not according to this ---Folks -----

Safe way to get Saved ----there ----FOLKS ---Follow the Way and obey what the Word --who is Jesus ----says ----and be sure of your Salvation ------

Don't rely on John Calvin's Theology ---to get you saved -----

Spiritual Discernment vs. Academic Knowledge

Spiritual insight
comes through faith and the Holy Spirit rather than human status or diplomas.

Godly wisdom

focuses on transforming daily living and loving others rather than accumulating prideful facts.

Academic learning
can sometimes lead people to rely on themselves instead of depending on God's direct guidance

God created the lie UNSAFE just to make you respect devilish truth as divided and split into portions requiring a bit of intelligence to know the difference ... and a bit of mental balance ...

Have you ever considered that an imperfect human being living in our sinful world might not actually be qualified to judge whether someone is saved and that doing so is the height of cosmic arrogance? Isn't that God's perogative and only God can decide and know who is saved? Or is recognizing God's absolute sovereignty over salvation too Calvinist for you?

I have long held that IF (please note the conditional there) there is a heaven and hell, a lot of judgemental Christians are probably going to be in for a surprise when they see who God actually puts where.

Same goes for other blind journies down a mysterious rhode like life itself ... life tends to be consumptive of the physical wealth ... something Toby learned when Tobias (look that one up) ...

Tobias: combines tov, which means "good," and yah, which is a short form of the name for God.

God being eternal that would be an eternally lengthy condition once out of here an now! Life is rough ... especially with all the raptures and rippers off ... difficult for an ordinary person to learn properly!

MendalIa said: "I have long held that IF" thus the uncertainty of the Ephemeral angels comes into play ... fey and somewhat flighty? Touchee and go ...

This is improperly understood if exceptionally concrete on belief of open space ...

It is probably worth reminding folk that there are multiple understandings of Christian faith, that the Bible itself is multi-vocal and that there is no one "right" answer to any of these questions.

Seems to fit with the hesitations on the one-way Rhode ... between the stones?

Maybe it means something other and wild ... taken off like the firebird?

Like in "ego" and "egotism" that deals with the "I" and aye people having trouble getting beyond themsleves? The self being overriding any further journeying ... exceptionally strong "I's" just don't get far in the outside spirit ... in essence!

The entire concept of "ego" being restricted ... giving images of dungeons and mined places ... imaginary subtle ties to vicious groundings?

The stairs do only go so far ... down!

God, Luce, speaks clearly through His Word. The unknown God you mention's revealed Himself in Christ.

The relief when a lost friend finds us is the relief I know in being found by God.

The emotions, vertigo and myths can't anchor the soul. Only the cross can.

To cling to Christ's cross's to find safety, rest and eternal life

It is probably worth reminding folk that there are multiple understandings of Christian faith,
True Christian Faith comes from believing in Jesus ---who all by Himself says

John 14:6 Amp

6 Jesus said to him, “[a]I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

If you want to Dispute that GordW ----you need to address your concerns to God ---not this world -----

Now that Jaebius ---we definitely agree upon

So we do agree on some things ----Just not on the way people get saved -----

Have you ever considered that an imperfect human being living in our sinful world might not actually be qualified to judge whether someone is saved and that doing so is the height of cosmic arrogance?
Mendalla all your post are based on your Intellectual Worldly Faith -----believers Faith is not believing in what the World says -----Believers Faith believes in what God's Word Says

The Bible clearly says how you can tell if Someone is Truly Saved -----

Matthew 7:16-20

You will recognize them by their fruits.

Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

So, every healthy tree bears good fruit, but the diseased tree bears bad fruit.

A healthy tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a diseased tree bear good fruit.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will recognize them by their fruit

It is probably worth reminding folk that there are multiple understandings of Christian faith, that the Bible itself is multi-vocal and that there is no one "right" answer to any of these questions.
