Revisiting The Vaccine

FYI, a lot of fields of science have this problem. You get these big overhyped stories about some discovery or other and it turns out that it is neither as big nor as weird as the press makes it out to be. That's why I use science-focussed media like Scientific American or the SciShow channels on Youtube for my science news rather than relying on MSM or similar. They specialize in science journalism so understand how science works and how to put in the effort to get the story right.

Describes how many get sucked into spectacularism (cellibrity) rather than bottom line (celibate) data of humble nature!

Some of the ancient Greek looked at systems that understood from bottom up instead of top down mythos!

This particularly baffles the modern noos, or nous ... us of the modern psyche and extremely subjective perspective ... but yet still dynamic!

A story we hear way too often, eh. I should have had my fourth earlier but got the bug in July so had to wait at least three months after that subsided.
A big part of why I decided to go with early timelines. Did it help? Who knows?

If we have until 2045 to stop Catastrophic Climate Change

Of course the crackdowns
Observing everyone
Making everything efficient
Centralized digital currency
Smaller cities
Something more akin to Communism or Socialism (where work to survive isn't necessary but all watched over by beneficient government)
Vat grown protein
Bugs for food
UAP rides lol

Radical restructuring of EVERYTHING

No actual Sirens were hurt during the writing of this
But some were savagely poodled

And very little was learned about alternate durability as the thing passed and broke down ... popular if you watch the paradigm! That's statistical collapse ...

Big question. I want to look at the little pieces. When I drive by solar farms, I winder why the solar arrays are not raised up so the land underneath can be used for grazing. I realize there would be a significant cost to raising then but lifting them up should improve cooling which would improve efficiency.

In my neck of the woods, solar farms are bits of land that aren't much alt usable. In the Simcoe County area, we use them a lot on cloverleaf intersections that eat up a bit of unusable space and leave some. So dead space, too much traffic, etc.

People have been known to breed blindly and unconsciously to fill dead spaces in the market theory! Run Margaret ...

The one that prompted me to comment was on flat land bordered by trees on the east side beside a highway NW of Ottawa. Maybe the land was rocky or crappy clay

Imagine Ottawa as a piece of wasteland ... encouraged by polity? The summer of 61 I stayed there with an aunt and uncle ... viewed some interesting hard places ...

Actually, it's a rather nice city these days. Lots of biking and walking trails, you're just minutes from Gatineau Park. My son and d-i-l seem happy there. But still, it is Ottawa so lots of bureaucracy and politics to fret about, too.

I have seen a lot of different designs for solar farms, unlike wind farms that are all kind of same-y (An American friend on Stories Space recently wrote a horror story after seeing the ones along 402 during a visit to Canada from Michigan. Had me :ROFLMAO: since I know the exact ones she means.). But with solar farms, some have the solar panels on the ground, some are raised. Some adjust to solar angle as the day/season/year progresses, too. That's not just ones I have seen here, though. I have seen many in my international travels, too.

(And how the hell did we get from vaccines to alternative energy generation?)

Back to vaccines. So far we are being told that a new Omicron variant will probably cause a significant increase in people being hospitalized in September. I have not seen any public statements about the effectiveness of the current vaccine against it. I believe the vaccine does little to protect against infection by Omicron but provides protection against getting very sick. Does anyone have more information about this?

The bivalent booster that came out about a year ago protects against Omicron (at least the strains prevalent a year ago) but the original does not. I got that one as my last booster, back in December.

New versions tailored to current Omicron variants are currently before the FDA for approval so presumably Health Canada is, or will be, looking at them as well.

i hoid bonny henry this morn on CBC radio 1 and she said she wasn't calling them boosters but something else...i wish i remembered...updates?

and when the interviewer gave her a stat saying around 5% of BCers i think had all the boosters bonny henry seemed to pull a "circle back" by saying she doesn't know where she got her stats from...

she sounded quite chipper the entire interview

From what I understand Pfizer and Moderna submitted information to Health Canada for approval for monovalent vaccines sometime in June. I think they are both based on one of the XBB variants. I had heard a bit about monovalent for this fall months ago, but information then was fairly sparse. Definitely more details around now. At this point, I expect to get one of these ones in the winter.
