Just wanted to interject

@ninj
@Redbaron
this world is crazy mad enough without me adding to your suffering and stress

i am sorry for that

i wish the both of you the best

and long continued life

with all the things that make it worth all the botherings

same to everyone else whose suffering was increased

life is too short

Thus a further query, what is more painful:
  • the effect of rich on the poor?
  • the effect of poor on the rich?
Is the worst when the poor fails and cannot carry out the rich folks stuffing's (bad chit)? No balance ... the vessel involved ether explodes or implodes!

Implosion is not well understood by those accustomed to fireworks. etc.!

Careful twisting of a lot of numbers that leave out the roles of previous Liberal and Conservative governments in laying the foundation for our current housing crisis, the capital gains reduction in income tax, and much more that I do not have time to add. Great crafting like a lot of BS.

And very well done
I don't recall a time when the Libbies have done something this well done
Obviously popular as well (the views) and lots of different outlets yakkin aboot it

the capital gains reduction in income tax
In fact, Trudeau is partly rolling this back. For people who rely heavily on capital gains for income and are put into the "Alternative Minimum Tax" regime, they will be taxed on 100% of capital gains with the deduction for losses actually reduced to the 50% IF a ways and means motion currently before the house passes in time. But for most of us who get our income the old-fashioned way by working for a wage/salary, our capital gains on the investments we make with that income remain at the 50% reduction.

And principle residences remain exempt, which I actually support though they probably need to tighten up the definition of principle residence. There are people who live in apartments most of the time who claim their cottage or other temporary residences as their principle which is sheltering some fairly large capital gains given the property values in cottage country over recent decades.

Right. Like El Salvador is a country we should emulate. Call me when Switzerland or the EU adopts crypto.

Fact is, the cost of doing this is going to be insane. Taxation systems will have to be retooled (yes, if it becomes legal tender, you will be expected to pay tax on it), POS and credit card processing systems will have to be retooled, and god knows what else. The cost of that retooling alone will likely send some small businesses into the red since, if it is legal tender, they will have to retool to accept it.

And, to be honest, I imagine the crypto bros would run screaming in the other direction if Bitcoin (or any other crypto) actually became legal tender in a major economy. Because if that happens, there will be legal requirements for things like disclosure and, yes, traceability. It will not longer be a way to keep your income and its sources under the radar and if you do, tax court awaits. CRA WILL want to be able to audit to see how much crypto you earned and add it to your taxable income. Which is exactly what a lot of crypto bros are trying to dodge.

CBDC and Crypto, a comparison and history. What are they? What can they do? Why are gov'ts looking into CBDC and Crypto?

Internet will be taxed ... and that should create some inhibition's there ... raising the question about who will process when AI goes down?

The old adage holds: "what goes up?" Implications ...

I am for the concept of micropayments on the internet as an alternative to ad based revenue (which has been highly toxic and leading to such things as attention-based economy, addiction, rise in mental illness among youth, and polarization radicalization)

Which means that all traffic we engage in will cost us money

Which should then incentivize us to be more mindful of what we do on the internet

Are you saying this choice is mostly naivete ... described as generally following a lack of intelligence ... maybe stew PID Y and ignorant in relating to product identification numbers assigned by secular Gods? The essence of further vapors ... as the spirit drifts about ...

Would further word(s) elaborate? Thus stacked evidence that is declared alternate ...

I first heard aboot micropayment concept from David Brin
(and apparently he has brought it up to the US gov't)
Here are two of his forays into it

Enjoyable website as well. Bold conversations on economics...possibilities with a LOT of traffic :3

Is there anyway a prophet can be squeezed into the crap evolving (mostly about commissions)?

If nothing else for divers distraction from the virtual value system ... nothing to it?

It will be interesting to see what happens when Pierre (not Trudeau) Poilievre becomes PM

Hopefully he will sit at times

Hopefully he will still make his wicked youtubes

And man, Canadian media is totally sunk into the Confederate wing of the GOP-created Culture War lol

Its like they have no free will...

Or a variety of TDS? Trudeau Derangement Syndrome? Remember it means Confirmation Bias colouring what reality you experience...just like AR or VR goggles...

So glad I avoid the news

Kaslo is so peaceful

No 25/8 news. Just nature and pleasantly fun people

Gotcha. But you post a lot of podcasts/Youtube opinion vids.

So what exactly are you avoiding? Me, I don't have cable and listen to CBC exclusively, so I can honestly claim to be largely advertisement-free.

That is Hippy land. Many kinds of cool people there.
My dad often took us on road trips
He would make these mix tapes from his albums (Oh John Denver, Boney M, Neil Diamond, Zamfir, Johnny Cas, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Cat Stevens oh my)
If it was overnight, he would pack the whole orange VW bus...he was a master packer...everything fit
I have fond memories of Idaho Lookout, Silverton, Ainsworth Hotsprings and the long cave filled with hot water, rummaging through tailings piles and finding treasures...

We were fortunate enough to, with another family, rent a housboat for a while and we went all up and down Kootenay lake...got bit in the butt by a spider (darned oothouse)...watched our beachball float downlake....had food from a floating store...dove into crystal clear water...learned why anchors exist (we woke up in a different part of the lake lol)...gassed up from a floating gassery...saw the most spectacular thunderstorm ever, bolts and flashes connexing between massive pileup of cloud towers rising to forever...bum.sliding down Kokanee glacier area...

i don't have cable or tv
when we had tv it was to watch old movies on our vcr
i have a new life here
i am happy not watching corporate News -- what i really meant by me just writing "news" --(which to me is very much like a commercial selling butt cream or the latest car), which I have given far too much of my time and brain space to. i am trying to keep clean
Room for All, talking to people in Kaslo, riding my bike, talking with my Lord, working at the local thrift store, hearing from my bro, is good enough news, real news, for me

CBC is very unusual and something wonderful. An org that doesn't have to struggle in the dog eat dog world of capitalism and marginal margins...all us Canadians are VERY LUCKY we have this

I hope this has helped?
