Received my special invitation email today to attend Saturday's "Jesus in the City" Parade. Dr. McVety writes...

"Our society is in deep peril and in need of fervent prayer. On this Saturday, September 7th thousands of pastors, leaders and believers will march the streets of Toronto and pray for God to heal our land. The only answer to all the hate and trouble is prayer. Mayor Olivia Chow will join us and she needs prayer.

I want to ask you to walk with me at the front of the parade, dressed in a clerical gown and pray for victory. The parade begins at 1:00 pm at Queens park. Please arrive by 12:00 noon and go the Canada Christian College bus where my staff will give you a gown to wear. The parade usually is over by 3:00pm.

I know you are busy but please clear your schedule and make this a priority.

I look forward to marching and praying with you.

May God Bless You."

Wonder if he knows that I live in Gyeonggi-do

Probably not. Maybe you got on his list or in his address book when you lived in Toronto. Definitely a bit of a ways to go just for a march.

Here's the event's website. 25 years and counting. And apparently there was also one in St. Kitt's and Nevis of all places back in May.

It resembles Voodoo ... too much of it can kill yah ... like vessel or Dhow/Dhal with a hole in the bottom? Magi ... sometimes know as Margaret ... Ray Stevens sang about her ... damn those spam calls ... inappropriate bourse ... non English stock market! Imagine the bull tendered there ...

Catch my drift? Corruption is something that must be encountered ... there is an excess of it!

Explosive Canon ...

Back when I used to live in Toronto, I sometimes wanted to be in the parade, but somehow always managed to miss it. Now that I live in Gyeonggi, I get the invite

You just need the latest, greatest hypersonic transport to be invented, eh. :D

Back to the event itself, anyone here ever been involved or know anything about it beyond their own publicity? 25 years suggests it has been something of a success but why? Is it the community building or people seeing a chance to spread the good news or what? Do participants come from all walks of Christianity or is more of an evangelical (and related) thing? Is the UCCan or its congregations involved?

Just remember what happened to Jeff Goldblum in the The Fly (or David Hedison if you prefer the original) before you start experimenting.:D
Love both films but they're markedly different. Watching the Goldblum one, I forget that it's a remake

Yep, which was the brilliance of Cronenberg's version. He took the basic idea and rewound it in his own splatter/body horror image. The whole DNA combination/mutation thing felt more real and sensible in the 1980s, too, even if it was really just as nonsensical as the switching of heads in the 1950s version.
