Euthanesia to be authorized in Canada for mentally handicapped

In addition, we are approaching Netherlands rates.

I wish we had data about how many are choosing it because of their economic situation. That is my main concern.

A rather different perspective on Track 2 MAID from a disability advocate who is now on track for it. She's already approved (and is quite positive about the process) and held a "living funeral" for family and friends. Just needs to set a date. Goes to show that there is always another perspective to consider on these issues.

Economics will not allow that for people as you can see the wealth tends to only 2-3% by a plan of avarice in our present state of ideals about the topic of hunting and gathering and no spreading ... 98%+ must go ... the illusion of ever life for the minor part thus succeeds ... they cannot see anything other ...

Brother? Sibling ... I not taking on that as an onus ... life is thus off in a tear ...

With the ongoing uncertainty around MAID, we are starting to get court fights over eligibility. Here we have a woman who was found ineligible in her own province getting approved by a doctor in another. Her common-law partner went to court and the judge granted an injunction barring her from receiving MAID for 30 days while he looks into it further. Argument is that there is no eligible physical condition, her issue is mental health.

My friend who was supposed to have had MAID let death come when it came. She was scheduled for October 10 then postponed to the 17th. She died on the 24th in hospice. It's a big decision.

I know she was very anxious about the dates. In the end she was sleeping most of the time. She probably essentially died in her sleep.

This is such a difficult topic and decision. I seem to be sitting on an uncomfortable fence about the whole thing.
Yep - people should be able to control their own end of life. In cases of uncontrollable pain it is easily understandable to me.
Nope - people shouldn't be forced into death because they don't have normal supports that should be their right.
I struggle with what seem to be endless grey areas.

I thought I heard on the radio this week that Quebec has allowed / went ahead with allowing a pre- decision for MAID in the case one looses the ability to do it later.

Will it be a soul wrenching thing to administer the cure to a person now beyond knowing, being aware and not WOKE?

Seems like a Job for a character without empathy ... a sort of apathetic administrator type? They tend to harass the living anyway they can ...

Hi. Long time no chat. I’ll be back to post more soon. I can’t remember where I posted about this but the whole documentary is now on YouTube.

It’s really worth watching this. Because the UK is where we were in 2015 - helpful to see an experienced and well respected, disabled, disability activist (you’ve probably seen her act. She’s been in British TV shows and movies, and played Judge Gamble in the Marvel movie, Loki). The pro side of this debate - especially track 2 - is all hopeless and cruel spin. As was a very similar campaign by the Nazis through the way the euthenasia was presented in popular culture as a virtue or blessing - whereby keeping disabled people alive, in particular, was considered cruel. But it’s that norm that’s cruel. The idea that wealthy disabled people should have it as a kind of hall pass when there are so many simply struggling and dying to have adequate housing and wouldn’t want to die if the world were accessible to them - and all levels of govt know this - is an atrocity.

I’m sorry to jump back in here swinging but I feel like people need to remember that. I hope they can remember that, as we head into 2025, with Trump off the hook and leading the “free” world. He was legitimately elected by a whole lot of people. We’re in for really dark days if people forget.

And it expands as the numbers of marginalized expands…go figure.

Sum people just can't add up what's obvious because of certainty about blindness to what they do not like to observe (as science).

Yah, I know it is convoluted ... but it has to be some folk can remain simple and not see things in their own personal fog! It is like a dark and stormy night when odd things are given birth ... like thoughts and other undesirables ... these go down that dark core tube (once known as corde*lia; a name worth examining). It has a connection to an ancient sacred chord! May be braided in the dark ...
