Just keep going....
The birds in my backyard all go to the neighbours that have the more expensive bird food and keep refilling regularly. So this one is picked to be able to participate in this thread.

I love me some hawks. Wish we saw them on the ground more often but around here, we seem to mostly see them soaring high above. Same with vultures. I've only seen a vulture on the ground once here (but several times travelling in Latin America).@Lastpointe - I was happy to see a return of my birds after lunch today - so now I have a bit of list to submit. I think today is still fine. But then the big Red Tailed Hawk swooped into a neighbour's tree - again sending all the songbirds into hiding.

A lot people feed them bread - which is very unhealthy for them. Corn kernels are prob okay; I've also heard of people feeding them with frozen peas. I saw a guy feeding some when I was on a walk to the river the other day - I asked him politely what he was feeding & he said corn, bird seed etc. No bread which was good.Yesterday we were walking and sitting in the park down the street.....it's full of mallards along with other ducks and geese right now. The water is still flowing over the small waterfall and the ducks seem to like gathering in the small protected area at the bottom.
Lo and behold, some woman pulls her car up to the area, opens her trunk and starts scooping out large amounts of corn kernels, ( I mean quite alot), and on the post right beside her car is a LARGE sign saying not to feed the ducks, geese or swans and then gives many reasons why not to..... made me sad.
It did make me wonder though, why do we feed birds from feeders but are not supposed to in the parks?
I am seeing lots of interesting birds this winter. Today there was also a LBJ (little brown job) pecking through the leaves at the back of the yar - got my binocs & camera & snapped this picture. Didn't know what it was - consulted a more pro-birder friend - hermit thrush But he's a good teacher - told me it was a thrush then told me to get out my resources & figure out which one Which I did - happily correctly. I thought at first it was a wren with that round shape & perky tail. Another new one for me.A hawk is a nice addition to your list. You are really seeing lots of birds this winter
Ducks aren't a problem here. It's the bloody Canada Geese that I wish people would stop feeding. I have just about hit the dang things on my bicycle riding the Thames Valley Parkway.I also think they don’t really want hordes of ducks in parks. People feed them in the winter because they feel worried about them. But they poop a lot and the quality of the water really falls.
a few ducks that live naturally, don’t affect things so much. But once food is available you get hundreds of ducks
I have a small Lumix point & shoot camera - it has an excellent lens and good telephoto capability. It also shoots video! I like it because it fits in a large pocket; and more importantly to me it has a viewfinder, not just a screen. I find that in bright light, I can't usually see the screen so it's a bit of a guess what might show up in the photo! So now I always make a point of getting a camera with a viewfinder.are you taking these photos with a phone or camera.
That's what we are packing too. My phone has a decent camera but the lack of an optical zoom is a problem so we still pack it along on trips and keep it in a kitchen drawer for those moments when we need it at home.Lumix point & shoot camera
Lumix cameras are really good in their various price ranges. The one I had years ago had top quality lenses - which are actually more important than the camera body. I too need a viewfinder and at the moment I'm using Pentax cameras and a range of lenses shared with my guy. We went with Pentax because they are TOUGH. We have dropped them on paving and rocks, dumped them in the lake etc and they are just fine.I have a small Lumix point & shoot camera - it has an excellent lens and good telephoto capability.
