Last night I listened to a lecture hosted at Emmanuel College at U of Toronto & heard this man Jonathan Kuttab for the first time - an impressive Palestinian Christian human rights lawyer. That lecture will hopefully soon by available on the Canadian Friends of Sabeel website. In the meantime - this is an interesting address he made to the United Church LAST JANUARY - about its failures in this longstanding situation. See what you think ...

I agree with this. There's an interesting looking book that just came out in early Oct - before Oct 7 - listening & developing empathy for others in the Gaza - Israeli war - The Wall Between: What Jews and Palestinians Don't Want to Know about Each Other which the Moderator's Book Squad will be discussing on Oct 30. I was curious to know more, so watched this video with the authors this afternoon. It's long (90 min), and worthwhile, IMO. Hmmm - could not embed the video here - but look up on youtube Book Launch for the book title - session is at the First Unitarian congregation in Ottawa.

Supporting a ceasefire in Gaza because innocent people are trapped there and being killed - is not antisemitic. Innana up to old tricks. STOP supporting these a**hole right wing white guys! Murray, Peterson, Harris, etc… all the agents of the “Intellectual Dark Web”. They are insidious. It’s why I can’t engage with you for long - you start sneaking this stuff in. Of course, nobody here’s been paying attention to who Douglas Murray is and if you play a clip where he says something that sounds reasonable you can get them to listen to more… stop. That’s right, here in the US “replacement theory” focuses mostly on whites being replaced by black and Latino people (and the Jews of course), while in Europe it’s more focused on whites being replaced by Muslims (and, uh, yeah still the Jews).
Murray’s book became so popular amongst far right anti-immigration zealots that it became the favorite book of Viktor Orban, Hungary’s ethnonationalistic anti-semitic prime minister, who even invited Murray to come out and meet him along with Steve Bannon. Yes, that Steve Bannon. “If we do not clearly state what is happening to Hungary and why it is happening,” Orban wrote on Facebook under a photo of him holding Murray’s book, “then no one will understand. And if we do not understand it, then we cannot make a sound decision three weeks from now.”

This just in. The news apps on my phone were going berserk. Israel has approved a four-day ceasefire and Hamas is going to release 50 hostages. The release of more hostages could extend the ceasefire.
