Shalom, CarollaLast night I listened to a lecture hosted at Emmanuel College at U of Toronto & heard this man Jonathan Kuttab for the first time - an impressive Palestinian Christian human rights lawyer. That lecture will hopefully soon by available on the Canadian Friends of Sabeel website. In the meantime - this is an interesting address he made to the United Church LAST JANUARY - about its failures in this longstanding situation. See what you think ...
ty for giving us this
Seeing others as human like us can help reduce the passion for war.
I agree with this. There's an interesting looking book that just came out in early Oct - before Oct 7 - listening & developing empathy for others in the Gaza - Israeli war - The Wall Between: What Jews and Palestinians Don't Want to Know about Each Other which the Moderator's Book Squad will be discussing on Oct 30. I was curious to know more, so watched this video with the authors this afternoon. It's long (90 min), and worthwhile, IMO. Hmmm - could not embed the video here - but look up on youtube Book Launch for the book title - session is at the First Unitarian congregation in Ottawa.Seeing others as human like us can help reduce the passion for war.
Great news....some progress! This just in. The news apps on my phone were going berserk. Israel has approved a four-day ceasefire and Hamas is going to release 50 hostages. The release of more hostages could extend the ceasefire.
