Can really strong Christian aggression ... have a passive response that is underhanded ... like the 3rd hand of the vast unknown?

Really psssst'd off those of the narcissist trend that believed they know all of it ... a mortal impossible dream because of our anonymous designation ... extreme "independance" from all else (the great alternate)?

Thus fireworks on independence day when we gather socially against our anti socialist trend ... and we don't even know why! The blast may be anger management relief ... 4 plae?

So only one race exists—the human race.
Why then has Christianity spent much of its history promoting the superiority of white Europeans over other races? Why did Christians claim Biblical support for enslaving "lesser races"? Why do white supremacists in the US even today use the Bible for support?

In principle, what you quote is correct. If one accepts the Eden story as true, we are all descended from Adam and Eve and racism should be a non-starter. What Christianity has actually preached and practiced has been a far, far different matter.

And, frankly, evolution largely teaches the same thing at any rate. We all started from one original population of homo sapiens in Africa (as demonstrated by a raft of fossil and genetic evidence) and "races" are the product of that species adapting to other environments as they spread around the world. So, once again, we all came from the same place and are one species, whether we see that as the product of the Eden myth or evolution.

Oh, and citing Darwin to attack modern evolutionary biology is really showing ignorance. While evolutionary theory certainly started with Darwin, modern evolutionary biology is much different from what he wrote and they criticize his ideas as much as anyone, even if they acknowledge him as their starting point.

Mendalla ---your Quote ----- Why then has Christianity spent much of its history promoting the superiority of white Europeans over other races? Why did Christians claim Biblical support for enslaving "lesser races"? Why do white supremacists in the US even today use the Bible for support?

As Far as Christianity goes ---I have no use for a man made religion of any kind personally myself ---anyone can call themselves a Christian ----and many use God's word for their own agenda -----they twist the truth and they create a lie out of the real truth -----Many Ministers as well as Many False Christians do that all the time today and we Humans are believing their lies -----there is not one scripture that says one race is better than another God created man and woman equal and man has taken that and used and twisted it to suit their own agenda ------according to this Romans 13 is used by many to support their superiority --Taking scripture out of context ----and twisting it -----Satan does parade as an angel of Light ---

I am just posting some of this --read all if you so wish

Why We as Christians Cannot Ignore the Misuse of Romans 13

n it’s original context, Paul is speaking to Christians under persecution in Rome during a time that there are armed revolts rising up and being brutally put down all over the empire. He’s concerned about church members being arrested, tortured and executed by the government. He doesn’t want Christians disobeying every law in some sort of gross misunderstanding of his teaching about the freedom of Christ. He’s saying to them, “Keep your heads down. Don’t be a rebel just for the sake of being a rebel.” He’s acknowledging that SOME sort of order is necessary for human beings to live together. By no means is he saying all law is just, or that unjust laws have to be supported. After all, Paul himself is eventually executed for violating Roman law, as was Jesus before him and thousands of Christian martyrs after him. Additionally, all of the text around Chapter 13 is about loving your neighbor. Chapter 12 says,
Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
As people of faith, knowing our history is important, because there is a long, infamous interpretational history used by authoritarian governments to take Chapter 13 out of context.

I say

God had no religion and that is the truth -----God never used any such word as homosapien -----this is when that word came into being and was created by man ----and notice the meaning in Latin ---WISE MAN ------the word was introduced in ---according to google
1758 ----
The name is Latin for wise man, and was introduced in 1758 by Carl Linnaeus (who is himself the lectotype for the species). Extinct species of the genus Homo include Homo erectus (extant from roughly 2 to 0.1 million years ago) and a number of other species (by some authors considered subspecies of either

1 Corinthians 3 says
Avoid Worldly Wisdom
18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. 19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”; 20 and again, “The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are futile.”

I say -----God gave His first Christ a Name ----Adam ----this name means ------this from the Bible dictionary ---no mention of word Homosapien ---which has a different meaning than Adam -------

Dictionaries - Baker's Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology - Adam
Adam [N] [E] [H] http://www.biblestudytools.com/dictionaries/smiths-bible-dictionary/adam.html
"Adam" is both the proper name of the first human and a designation for humankind. God himself gave this appellation to Adam and Eve ( Gen 5:1-2 ). The color red lies behind the Hebrew root adam [; 'a]. This may reflect the red soil from which he was made.

I say
----it all started with God ---without God creating everything ---we would not be here as there would be not earth --no animals etc and no humans -----and that folks is the real truth ---Darwin was created by God and he took and twisted the real truth and decided it didn't suit his agenda and made up his own story of how everything was created and humans bought his lie and that is the real ignorance and very arrogant of him - in my view ----- and understanding his Theory of human evolution does involve racism -------and that is a fact ------

Racism was born from twisted evolution theories ---and that is the real truth as far as I am concerned -------

Problem with that theory, unsafe, is that demonstrably, "racism" existed long before any theories of evolution.
Enslavement of Africans, for instance, was already under way in Columbus' time, so late 15th century. Darwin's The Origin of Species came out in 1859.

To be fair, there were the "social Darwinists" like Spencer who used evolutionary theory to justify racism, but that's no different from Christians using scripture to justify it. It's a misuse/abuse, and you can't blame all who were involved in studying and developing our modern knowledge of evolution for that abuse any more than you can blame modern liberal churches marching with BLM for the racial abuses of their forebearers.

Perhaps alot of our racisms began with cultural differences and social norms, which should be considered, but often are associated with our skin colour.
I think we also have to be careful not to homogenize cultures while trying to understand racism.....some differences are good and should be respected and honoured. We are not all the same just because we're all human beings, thank God, some of our differences are beautiful too. Some are barbaric and theres not one culture that hasnt experienced that.
We should love one another while respecting others experienes maybe?
We have a hard time with that in Canada with indigenous natives......Ive always wondered why Chinese people have been able to create areas within cities to reflect their culture or East Indians etc....yet indigenous people were forced on reserves to keep their culture isolated. Now has it become necessary for reserves to stay intact to enable less Canadian influence on their culture? Are reserves still necessary to have ownership and dignity....why are they not just towns?

Its not just the Christian faith that enslaved others either......what is it about some religion that seems to create sects that bring that out?

I think in the case of Christianity, it is fairly obvious. It got tangled up in European colonialism and imperialism, using them as an opportunity/platform to not just spread the gospel, but to violently impose it in some cases. Clearly, teaching the superiority of that culture in the eyes of God was in the church's best interest. The problem now is how Christianity, much of which has finally started to repudiate that history, can uncouple itself from a colonialist mentality that still thinks white, European culture is best for the whole world, whether they want it or not.

I say ----this is my view

Racism was cause by man Mendalla ------either by their misinterpretation of God's word or by their own ignorance and or by their own arrogance of wanting to be famous by creating their own version of how the human race got here -----

We absolutely can blame people like Darwin and the likes for their large egos and their moral ignorance of who created them in the first place -----and you can't blame the Bible for people taking it out of context and using it to foster racism -------

Darwin wanted to create a famous name for himself and he did that out of arrogance ===pride and ignorance ----in my view

From Google
Charles Darwin: history's most famous biologist. Charles Robert Darwin (1809-1882) transformed the way we understand the natural world with ideas that, in his day, were nothing short of revolutionary.

I say
He created a Lie and the ignorant human kind bought into his lie and it was taught in the schools ------- deceiving many
---
I Personally was taught in my school in my science book that we evolved from the Cro-Magnon man--what a bunch of bull crap that is ------and I believed it then -----

Some schools are now getting wise to not teaching Darwin's theory ----thank God for that -----

Montreal
lDarwin's theory not allowed in North Quebec schools

That's not actually what the article says. It claims that in this remote community, the Theory of Evolution has somehow been interpreted as offensive to this particular Inuit community's traditional beliefs. It also claims that there is some opposition to teaching this theory (which is a "theory" in the same way that the "theory of gravity" is a theory) in some communities with large numbers of Pentecostal Christians.

The rest of the world thinks that science can't be offensive or inoffensive; it just is. A process of acquiring and fine-tuning knowledge/facts into identifiable patterns.

The "Real Adam/Eve" was a single living cell, and that's our great-great (to the power of a million give or take) grandparent.

Science can be offensive. Research comes from a human angle for better or worse.

Confused? How can science be "offensive"? It's sort of "fact, as we know it"...

It's like saying that my chair is offensive. Truth, or reality, just sort of...is...

"Science" is a process of testing observable reality against a hypothesis.

Carolla ----you said ------- @unsafe - curious to know why this whole 'blame' thing is so important to you. Debating such stuff seems to miss the point of exploring one's OWN biases & behaviours in order to actually make meaningful change.

Bias definition
prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.

I say ---
Racism is a lie that was brought about by man ------biases and behaviours of us Humans was a learned thing from believing Man instead of God -----Racism is a Curse in this world ---Racism fosters--prejudice -- hate and superiority ---Racism needs to be exposed for what it is --a big fat lie ----Racism causes division and violence and you say it is exploring one's OWN biases and behaviours ---biases and behaviour that should have no place in this world but does because of people who want to create their own visions of how this world and humans evolved and making a name for themselves in the process ------

If we believe we humans by ourselves can create permanent meaningful change in this world ---- we are all duped by the god of this world -----Fighting Racism will never bring meaningful change in this Cursed world ----Why ---because we Humans have had so many people believe in people like Darwin and others who have taken truth and turned it into a lie that capativided the world and became the norm ------and this needs to be exposed

Here is an example -----Darwin explaining skin color ------this promotes making skin color important --------which in turn promotes one's own biases and behaviour ------causing one to prefer one color over another -------

Sexual selection as a cause of human skin colour variation: Darwin's hypothesis revisited

Darwin believed that racial differences in skin colour were caused by sexual selection. Available evidence suggests that in each society a lighter-than-average skin colour is preferred in a sexual partner. Such a preference would generate sexual selection for light skin that counteracts natural selection for dark skin. The observed latitudinal gradient in skin colour may result from the balance between natural and sexual selection.

I say ---so we see skin color becomes part of the racism problem -------God on the other hand in His Book the Bible NEVER MENTIONS skin Color ---Why because skin color is not an issue ------we are all made EQUAL -----and therefore Color has no place in God's World ------we can't have a bias opinion if there is no bias present ------

Groups like Black Lives Matter is not new ---there were other groups before this group that have tried to eradicate racism ---and failed -----God is the only one who will eradicate all racism forever when He chooses to -----until then we humans will continue to do as you say in your statement ----- of exploring one's OWN biases & behaviours

All we are doing right now with this latest movement is creating more prejudices and hate for another group of people ----law enforcement ----and now the gangs and drug lords are our in full force killing and shooting innocent people cause the police are scared to police the streets ---Not all police are bad apples -------the good cops are staying home -----

Hmmm - interesting @unsafe. I agree with your initial comments that racism is a human construct. But the other stuff - well, I couldn't quite follow on that path. What 'should' be in the world vs what 'is' in the world, claiming there's nothing we humans can do about it - other than wait for a god who might decide to change things - or not. Seems to promote some helplessness and no need to examine oneself.
