Denied Medicine

So, a year and a half ago, when I fractured 7 ribs (well 8, one of them twice), on my left side, I was finally driven by 36 hours of extraordinary pain to call a cab and go to the ER. And I waited 8 hours in excruciating pain, but when I saw a doctor, he was quick, thorough, immediately whisked me down for a CAT, and upon reading it tried to keep me for a day or so for pain management, which I refused, due to dog. Gave me a week's worth of morphine, and uber-strength naproxen, and we worked out a two week regimen.

That's why I hope they find something in your MRI, Kay. But it's stupid that anyone would think of anyone our age (senior of some level) as being pain-med junkies when we're not in the demographic.

What is the demographic though? These days it seems rather large.

In terms of care - even if someone is known to have an addiction issue that shouldn't be hindering figuring out a health problem. Many people who have become addicted to pain meds are addicted because it was prescribed, and having a health issue certainly increases risks for more, as does an addiction. When a specialist does have a concern about an undiagnosed problem that should be indicated and dealt with appropriately when in the hospital - addiction or not.

You're right. Have a joint replacement. Have a reaction of any sort, to the materials used, to exposure to hospital bacteria, etc. Normal levels of extreme pain meds might be rightfully prescribed. And then cut off suddenly, when some schedule says "you should no longer be in pain".

Any one of us can end up addicted to pain meds for legit pain. To deny pain relief to ER patients strikes me as working from the incorrect direction?

It shouldn't be very difficult to check a patients electronic record, surely.

FWIW - I feel much worse tonight and I'm not even considering going to the ER. I snagged an office appt with a new guy for a UTI this morning.

I don't know how well it's set up where you are. Here, they still need to integrate it all together. It's better than it was but still needs work. It's all still possible to look things up though, and I suspect it's the same where you are, even if it takes more effort and that effort needs to be made, especially when instructions include going to the emergency room if things get worse.

Good you have an appointment, If you feel like you need the emergency room though, don't let one jackass of a doctor stop you. Stress what the specialist has done, instructions, and that things are still being investigated and they will be reviewing any tests and treatment while you're at the hospital. Shouldn't be needed, but it might help.

Kay, are you doing as much pain relief spacing and blending as judicious? Have you got a local pharmacist to help you with this?

I'm trying - bearing in mind that my neuro said No Pain Killers -Go to the ER!. Problem with that is he doesnt'understand the reality of small town ER's and headaches several times a day.

Been there, done that ... after much study have found the root cause that is part of the rheumatoid spectrum that is simply passed off as Mystery Disease!

Hint: it is related to chronic stress disorder in ways todays order of business will not discuss! Neurotological endocrinologist might have a clue ... if the system hasn't forced it out for economic efficiency! his is reserved for the top end commission which will not be of public concern ... it will be buried ... sacred?

You are not meant to know by the other half of the human body ... too much essence (a kind of phantom)! Like silver threads ... rare reflective connections ... Moe 'n beams?

Oh... So is that why I've been annoying certain specialists by describing my body as a personal civil war? Part of it wants to cough, another part definitely doesn't.

Yet somehow it is not all that funny as one coughs, poops, or scratches their heart out ... lupus in it's spectrum ... inflammation! Mine is standing in the rim ... then we jump ship ... phantoms of the Carry Bean ... Jack? Up we goes in abstract domains ... free place for intelli Gents? Male spirit whether within or without as defined by anima/animus impaction ... spirits, essences clearly unseen ... mental incarnates as they manifest ... that's my ballad ... storied item?

Dippy? Fore sure ... like a compass, spread or span like Rhodes ide 'uM? Described circles ... spheroid as spinning ... glob 's!

Don't talk to me about scratching. I'm not sure itchiness isn't sometimes worse than pain. I far too often scratch to the point where I gouge my skin, and the pain is almost preferable to the itch,. which in my case always feels like it comes from the bone. My worst eczema is always on elbows, and the pointy part of my shins, the sharpest bones in my forearms, my scalp, etc.

And yeah, Luce, it's definitely inflammation, many of these things, but caused by what, and with such a wide variety of symptoms. And some of us seem to have some funny/odd immune reactions.

There are some powers that declare there is no such thing as neurological mystery disease ... obviously blind to the information available out there for an unmoving soul ... one has to get beyond oneself! Now the Bos UN in NB is blind RV'ng! No sight atoll as isolated from omniscient ...

I had wicked, sharp headaches.
Turned out to be my trapezius muscle
Bodies are wierd.

Is that like a hanging metaphor ... they can be dizzying to hard straight liners ... variants of "iel"? It is an old syla Bell! Silly Ka ... glassy and brittle ... as mortal seriousness ... they are not even serious about strangers and associated relations ... thus limitations on the mindful spirit!

Some say it arrives like a dark angel ... in the morning ... clarity? Sometimes ...

Agreed, when it comes to mild-moderate I would take pain over itching.

Dang, I read up on trapezius headaches after you posted this and now I am wondering if that's my problem. Certainly sounds similar from the symptom lists I found. At least I have something to investigate. Thanks.

If you didn't know; would all these ailments go away because you didn't know what they were ... some doctors seem to use this methodology and we end up with formal Mystery Disease ... albeit related to poly misunderstood reumatic syndrome that is inclusive of vagas disorders ... in a feint way! Trigeminosis ..

Tomorrow I'm going to my friendly well trained chiropractor to see what, if anything, he can do about my headaches. I confess to being fresh out of patience with medical specialists who keep failing to fix them!
