And... it has happened. Top TV Canada has reported that Trudeau's government is now at risk because Singh's NDP party have withdrawn their support. Canada will soon enough be going to the polls. Enjoy the race
We shall see. Losing the agreement just means Trudeau has no guarantee of NDP support. We are just back to a usual minority situation. There's nothing stopping the NDP from supporting the government on confidence motions, thereby avoiding an election. So I'd say the probability has gone way up, but an election is still far from a sure thing. And there's also the Bloc as a wild card, though they are doing well in Quebec right now so probably want a vote.

Hold onto that, Mendalla. Meanwhile, I'll be celebrating here in Gyeonggi-do. The time has almost come. It feels like the first day about a week ago when the heat wave ended and I could feel Autumn on its way

Singh does not want an election yet. If the media would push Polievre a bit harder, people would be able to see that voting for him would hurt workers and marginalized people and seniors.

Love this recent video from the Conservative party. I found it really touching. I know what it's like to be the kind of worker spoken of. Most mornings, I get up before 6 and go into the dark to start work, giving my all for the good of Canada

Well done....(the video)

The video is well done and ironic. He has offered no policies to achieve his promises. He was one of the first politicians to demand that the government end the lockout and strike. Many of those workers will have less money if he kills the carbon tax. I believe he fairly consistently takes the employers' side in labour disputes so employees will lose wages and benefits over time. Inflation has fallen. Interest rates will be coming down.

He has also promised to cut supports of various kinds.

Those with the longer Lot ... beat the lessor with it ... a lot of BS! And ihc orae ... dock! Time moves on ... and little learned! Then intelligence is hated ... with definitive implications ...

Some fairly thoughtful, cogent analysis from the chief political correspondent at Global about why the NDP breaking the agreement does not necessarily mean an early election. Basically, the BC and Saskatchewan NDP are in election battles already and would be loath to have resources drained from their campaigns to feed a federal one. And breaking the agreement may help them by uncoupling the NDP from Trudeau and his weaknesses. The article does make the point, though, that this means Trudeau now will have to negotiate with the NDP (or Bloc) on pretty much every item individually, esp. any like the fall economic statement that could trigger a confidence motion. So, as always in a minority, we'll be one parliamentary vote away from an election at times, whether one happens or not.

It occurs to me that in fact this may put Sing and the NDP is a position where their voice could be louder to influence policy since they have to continually be won over --their support is not something that can be counted on in the same way

Agreed. Will be interesting to see how both the NDP and Liberals play this (the Cons are a given, they will be screaming for the NDP to help them vote the LIberals out).

That's what I thought too. I watched a panel that believed Singh had done a dumb thing. I'm not so sure that's true. Of course time will tell.

Okay, that's one analyst's opinion. Thank you for sharing. We'll see how it goes. I remain hoping for an early election and then au revoir et ne reviens pas, Justin

It also struck me that both PP and the Alberta Premier talked as if they thought that the NDP should now start voting in favour of UCP and CPC positions....

As if!! :ROFLMAO: But who knows, they might have at least one position worth supporting.

I'm thinking we will see an early election and Singh will not support the conservatives because of PP wanting to cut social programs such as pensions, dental care, pharmacare and child care.

I am hoping PP will have time to reveal the hollowness of his words and the implications. For the media, no more subsidies. I believe funding for arts and community organizations are probably also targets. Misogyny and racism in the armed forces and RCMP may lose priority. Support for Ukraine may become vulnerable. First Nations initiatives will probably also lose priority. Multiculturalism will be downgraded.

If you know about it, he's already revealed it.
