"Fasting from whiteness"
I dont know, I think these conversations tend to become exclusive without feedback or input from all.
Would white people even know if it is offensive?
Does a brute know that he is a brute? Do the insane know they are irrational regardless of their exuberance over being great?

So many words stacked against those that are unread or otherwise illiterate ... mores to look into, exceeding known ethic as too dense for those searching simple pleasures!

Outstanding in a rye field may take on a variety of interpretations ... far beyond simple ...

You must learn to read: I said I was not a Jungian and was merely offering a Jungian interpretation as an intriguing approach to address the OP's otherwise difficult issue tp evaluate.

I just had this picture of the WC2 door with a coat rack and a whole lot of storage space, recycling bins, garbage cans, fairly cluttered, before you go through another little space where, like the hymnbook racks in old times, one picks up little containers with kindness, patience, understanding and humour before entering the large WC2 hallway….

Leaving aside the expected animosity from the conservative White right, what do you think of the basic idea? Is "fasting from whiteness" for Lent a useful way to educate the church and get people thinking about how "White" Christianity is? Would you or your church try it? Frankly, I am still meditating on it, but it is an intriguing and innovative idea.

And, again, I want to discuss the idea, not the reaction, which is pretty much expected.

That article is (oh again what a horrid word is is)
Outrage p0rn by Michelle Butterfield

Much too easy

Someone somewhere does or says something

Someone somewhere reacts

Controversy! Lol

Human beings are endlessly fecund

USA had been a great place (and safe enough for most folx) so that ideas are born and can spread

Which includes such things as the Internet
and CSJ and CRT

Even Jazz :3

Bless all us human beings who can try oot ideas

Our brains are there to play with

Find some peeps to play brains with

(I'd like to hear a sermon entirely in Elvish or E-Prime)

Continue to be fecund, humanity!

What a very euro-centric position. Explain why white is the colour of death and mourning in Indian culture? Why black in many cultures represents power, and re-birth? And if you're getting into human colour schemes, where's your euro-centric position on yellow and red? Does Asian fondness for red as a lucky colour have something to do with their "yellow" colour? Is it a colour wheel thing? Indigenous people have "red" skin; does that explain their passion for water (blue)?

Colour archetypes are not cross-cultural, although they may be pan-European

Also remember colour is a social construct :3

(Also it looks like culture affects onez perception of colour...egads!)
It should be Pink Supremacy

And remember, whenever we talk, we are taking a pov or bias. We can never be without that.

The fact that you are using tge language of an Oppressor Culture...I wonder how that affects things?

Anyway laugh often

Tooo soon we are in the ground

Again, the point wooshes. Your experts, European all, don't talk about the differences in colour symbolism outside of European culture. And you didn't address the point either. Colour symbolism is not even remotely universal. And quoting Jung, quite frankly, is right up there with quoting Kipling etc. for credibility.
Can some of those you label as European see beyond their Europeanness? Or is it all Sapir Whorf hypothesis?
Remember not all of us here follow your beliefs? And not all of us have lived in your head, so we dont automatically know what you are writing aboot?

Humility
Try to steelman Mystic's words?
Work together?
Just musing before my inevitable demise :3

She is a particular favorite of Tom Allen's, the host of CBC Music's "About Time" program, 12-3 p.m. (I like it so much, I often listen to it from 12-3, then switch my time zone to Pacific and listen to it again.)
Hey Bette - in recent time, I was listening in & there it was - music of Florence Price! Yay! I thought of you when I heard that, and of the new information I'd gleaned about Florence as a result of her name being raised in this thread. Thanks all!

That is absolutely just it. This is a site with roots in Western Christian culture. Can we escape that? Possibly not, but basis memes, like colours and numbers, CAN give us glimpses into the fact that we (WCC) don't own colours or numbers or symbolism. And we'd do better if we understood more of these differences.

Western Christian Culture ... Hid'ah Gay ... on the outer islands? They posted messages ...

A projection of when thoughts are extended ... some say mental projection and discourage it as the larger emotional type despise thinkers in preference to unbalanced protocol ... it too circulates and goes round ...
