My father, who my niece cared for, loved sound of music. It was a Christmas day ritual

It was my Mom's favorite movie. I actually saw it, at the cinema, with her, when it came out. I would have been about 6. I was often both of my parents' companions at things the other parent was really disinterested in. So I spent a lot of time in craft/hobby stores with my Dad (and we listened to two particular things as we waited for Mom in the car - either Saturday afternoon at the Met - he loved music, but had no interest in 'seeing it' or Radio Canada, to keep his French up), and a lot of time at the opera and the ballet, and occasionally the movies, with my Mom. Also, Scottish country dancing with her. I was the multi-dimensional daughter.
