Yeah I made mistakes in the eyelet section. I undid it and still made a mistake. It stayed and is a design feature.

I started row 16 for the second time this morning and ended up with the wrong number of stitches left. It also didn't look right. I ended up with 96 stitches....... sooooooo I unknit that row again and redid it now I'm back on track. That lace section is awesome.

Has anyone tried loom knitting? It is like the knitting we did as kids using a thread spool with nails in the top. I am told you can now get adjustable looms that can handle anything from a baby sock to an afghan. I'm wondering how quickly things knit up this way and whether it is easier on arthritic hands?

There are groups online for loom knitters. It looks interesting. I haven't tried it because I like the traditional way.

Custom design features are excellent! Glad you got back on track - that counting thing is tricky - that's why I really like the stitch markers - only 10 stitches between markers so if I'm off I know right away! Lots of knitters would consider this to be WAY too many markers - but works for me!

Yes - I'm up to row 2 in 2nd repeat of Lacy Zaggs - like it a lot!

Stitch markers are my friend. My mistake was thinking I could do the eyelet section in a social environment.......

I like knitting lace. This Lacy Zaggs is different. I really like its texture. I should be able to get further tonight. I hopefully won't be spending so much time redoing....

Me too re knitting tonight. I've had to give up having my glass of wine at dinner so I can concentrate on my knitting in the evening! LOL - not a bad thing entirely!!

Yes I am - have been following it along, but mostly not posting. Interesting to see some of the photos in the "Spoiler" thread :)

Thanks for explaining rescue row. I understand the need for it.
I'm making some hats by loom knitting. I picked up a set of round looms at our church sale this summer. I've made 5 hats so far. It bothers my wrist much less than knitting with needles. Regular knitting flares up my carpal tunnel syndrome.

I finished the second repeat of the lace section tonight with minimal fuss. I got off on the wrong count a couple of times but noticed it quickly so it didn't slow me down. I don't know if I'll work on it at knit night tomorrow. It would be easy to mess it up in a social situation. I'll probably bring it since several of us are knitting it. I'll probably also bring the sock I'm working on. Much more suited to social knitting.

I'm loving this thread! Thanks for the thoughts on uses for old knitting patterns. Thanks for Tabitha's feedback about looms and carpal tunnel. Thanks to Carolla for telling us about rescue rows. I'll certainly share that with some friends who still knit. It would have been nice to know it 60 years ago!

I'm being lazy this morning and sitting at my computer in my housecoat. At least I'm warm - which I won't be if I go outside. The wind chill is in excess of -40.

The fun project waiting for me is to apply my grandkid's name to part of his Christmas present (this weekend with this part of the family). He camped with us last summer and liked our three legged stools. We bought him one of his own and I'll spend some time this morning stitching his name on it. He also has a book that should arrive in the mail . I thought he'd enjoy getting mail with his name on it.

I had to go outside today. It was -40 this morning. I didn't want to leave the house.....I wanted to keep knitting my shawl. I may skip knit night so I can finish the lace section alone, and in my warm house. On the other hand, it is a great group and a warm spot for the knit night....

I decided not to go to knit night. It is still cold here so I'm having my own personal knit night. I'm hoping to finish the lace section of this shawl tonight.

It is one of those three legged stools used for camping and fishing. They have a triangular canvas seat with the legs tucked into each corner. I used my sewing machine to write his name on a scrap of fabric that I then sewed to the seat. I'd love to show a photo but have traditionally had problems managing to do that little thing!
